What is Sunday League?

Sunday league is about people who get together on Sunday

morning through rain, snow hail and dog poo to play what

they loe, football. The show Sunday League is based upon

the idea of people playing football through thick and thin but

the show is about more than !ust football but the lies of the

boys who play in the team. The boys hae become a family

and when things start to fall apart it"s the !ourney back

together where we learn and see what dries the boys to turnup eery Sunday een when they no they wont win especially

with no coach.



#ow Sunday League came about?

The team go through a rough patch ending up going their

separate ways, athan wants to continue playing football so

applies to be in another team. This only pushes the team

further apart.

Matt makes a new friend at work who is !ust as geeky as him,

/allums IL mum is the new interest on the pitch while 0ean

and Lucy 1nally manage to get their date on.

Sunday League was an idea created by a group of

1lmmakers oer the summer break before the pro!ect was

due to take place, the group consisted of 3 people and 2 of

which were football cra4y which lead to the idea of a 1lm

based around football. Instead of a 1lm the scriptwriter

decided she wanted to create a series as a challenge, as a

pilot Sunday League would need research as T5 can be ery

di6erent to 1lm but we were all e%cited about the idea and

couldn"t wait to get started with a script. This wasn"t

suppose to be your typical 1lm like 7oal or 8end it like

8eckham but a story about the lies of no9 league and the



The team are on a bit of a dry patch on and o6 the pitch as

they hae no scored since the : a side in episode (, not only

that not een 0ean can pull a girl, until 0ean reali4es that he

actually likes this girl.

keeps winding him up as Tom wont share his mystery either.

coninces 0ean to break his ore important rule as a captain

Tom, Tom sees more than he e%pected too from ath. 0ean

reeals his guilt secret with Lucy.

0eans best friends and Lucy"s brother, he has a secretgirlfriend he wont let anyone meet to ruin it, the mostaggressie member of the team that loes a good yellow card,will stick up for his mate on occasion.

he feels like the weakest team player een though he is themost important one.

0on is a former football coach now these days he hasn"treally got anything going for him, secretly he wants to getback into football so when 0ean approaches deep down he ishappy but he has to test the boys as he cant fail.

The pitch location is in =aihnam $Aent& on the local council

grounds where there is - pitches, as this is public grounds this



means that we don"t need permission but I

emailed the council anyways and they were

happy as long as I sent them a risk

assessment.

ightclub )

The nightclub is a room within the =oyal

unction rooms this originally isn"t a nightclub

but when we iewed it for the wedding we felt

this would be good for the nightclub instead.

It een has a disco ball.

8o%ing )

This place I was recommend to as it is only a small space

hidden in Luton, as a friend recommended it we didn"t hae to

pay for the place which was great and it was perfect as it had

a ring and space around for e%ercise.

Wedding )

This was a little hard to 1nd but one day we

droe past and they had a sign up so we went

to hae a look and it"s a small hall which with

a little set dressing we loed it.

Aitchen )

The Aitchen and the bedroom scenes were 1lmed in one of our

houses as the kitchen needed to hae a table for 0ean and

Lucy to sit around and a cupboard behind so 0ean can check

out Lucy.

Inbetweeners

program that originally was inspiration to some of us was

Inbetweeners as it a typical 8ritish comedyCdrama, the only

di6erence is the boys are older and not is school making it

less about all the se% references.

riends is an merican comedyCdrama set around a group of

friends that are like family ) !ust like our boys but instead of

being in a co6ee shop the boys are on the pitch. s friends is

merican the comedy is slightly di6erent as 8ritish humor is

dryer and not as funny to some people.

photo9shoot was !ust an e%tra idea I had so we could hae

picture of the team for posters etc. turns out we needed

pictures for #elen to create her idea of stickers in pre9

production anyways. The photo9shoot eeryone loed and

en!oyed and we got some great photos for eeryone to use.

is for the football pitch day

This the =isk assessment I

created for the football pitch, this is a basic template that I

found online as most are ery similar as long as you hae the

correct information and 1ll in properly eerything is 1ne and

you will be coered, it is important to put down eerything

that could cause a risk though, like for e%ample we used a

drone which could be ha4ardous if we lost control and hit

someone or something, but as it was in this document we

would be coered under the insurance plus eeryone 1lming

was aware of it.

This is the template that the uni

proided us with as a basis, I actually

used this template but e%panded it

after doing research of what it should

entail, I made sure it included

eerything I could think of in case of

any problems, een then after getting

them signed I thought of more things

to add. It ended up being nearly -

pages long and it included items such

as, trael, e%penses, script copyright

and a guarantee the actor would turn up 1lming week.

Schedule

This is a simple hourly schedule made for the actors and crew

to see basically where we will be and what we are 1lming on

each day before the call sheets will go out, a simple e%cel



document makes it easy to see by hours and what scenes

people are in so some can een hae days o6.

0ay (

We started with only the wedding scenes which consisted of 2

scenes in total and we had < hours in which to 1lm them, this

location was one of the paid places so we were on a time limit

plus we had to set dress as this was the biggest set dressing

location of the week, good to get the big things done 1rst. We

actually did the dressing Duite Duickly as there was 2 of us

while the boys set up the camera, we also 1nished with about

3< minutes spare but I did hae to rush around as one of the

car broke down so I had to do - car trips with the props but we

had to keep going.

0ay -

8ritish weather decided to change like always and it was

lightly raining on the pitch, we were due to 1lm the big talking

scene after the intro to get this out of the way 1rst but with

the rain it delayed us, we did howeer manage to 1lm it. We

also managed to 1t in a car scene at the end of the day which

wasn"t scheduled as the football didn"t take us as long as

thought, but it was good to oer prepare as you neer know,

and hae back9up scenes incase.



0ay 2

This was set to be the biggest day for the pitch as we hae we

had all the e%tras in and the big scene with the Strood team

and the reuniting. This is why we had our e%tra cameraman in

on this day plus as the Strood team goalkeeper didn"t turn up

we had to change things at last minute and my runner

became the goalkeeper, which turned out ok in the end. We

again got in an e%tra car scene !ust before it got dark, this one

was more of a push for light but managed to get eerything I

scheduled in for the football days and more done.

0ay 3

This was set to be a small day with cast but we had the main

female lead $Lucy& in this day so we had to get all her scenes

done, all the scenes were indoor but I scheduled the -

bedroom scenes - kitchen scenes before it got dark, then we

moed onto the nightclub scenes.

s the week was moing along things started to run smoother,

only a few things went wrong e%cept this day I burnt my 1nger

on cutting my own Backet potato which annoyed me, but at

least it was me and not the cast or crew. I also forgot the 0B

decks when we left for the nightclub so I had to run back and

get them along with some speakers as my runner wouldn"t

know where to 1nd them.

This was the 1nal day of 1lming this week and was a slightly

smaller day to end the week, we only had to 1lm the - liing

room scenes then moe to the bo%ing. s this was the only

day without make9up I had to do it myself but she had left mefake blood, eerything was going great until the man neer

turned up at the bo%ing to open up, he

had forgotten but as he lied near by ha

came around and opened up half hour late

but we managed to get the shots and

more, plus eeryone had a

laugh at the end,

great week.

The 0irectors !ob is to communicate to theactors and cameraman to make themunderstand what it is that he wants fromthat scene or shot, by telling the actor to notmoe his hand or pull that face. The 0irectoralso has say in casting and picking thelocation to appear on screen.

The cinematographer is the cameraman butthey also are in charge of the lighting too, thedirector would hae gien the shot list oer sothey are prepared but they work with thedirector on the shots, they are solely

responsible for the focus and the lightly to beon point.

The 0rone is a mini copter with 3 bladesthat lift the go9pro into the air to get thehard to reach angles, it is controlledthrough wi1 on a tablet connected to thehand controlled, @aul also when notFying did the catering to make sure wewas fed and watered.

The 0 helps the director out by keepingthem on time and making sure there is Duietwhen there needs to be, but also helping withany needs the director may hae like holdinghis script, or reminding them what crossing

the line may be.

Sound ) 0an

Sound can be one of the most importantelements to the 1lm as without goodsound people wont watch it, unless it"s asilent 1lm you hae to worry about thesound Duality as outdoor sound it the

worst as you hae to worry about windrain and the noisiness.

Make9up ) /harlene

s this 1lm is mainly men that don"t reallyreDuire make9up as such we didn"t need afull time make9up artist, the main scene wedid need make9up was for the bruises but Irecommend haing all the time !ust in case



for aspects such as anti9shine plus they know more about thisthan you do.

runner is the person who runs around doingdi6erent things people reDuest such asmaking a cup of tea or bringing the bottle of water, the bene1ts are great especially if theyhae a car.

Tips on Making a T5 pilot yourselfE

(. Make sure you are prepared

Gou can neer be too prepared and the more you doearlier the less you hae to worried about later andmaking this will not be easy so after creating this Iwould recommend to be prepared for anything andeerything that could possible come your way.

-. lways hae back ups'en though you hae your cast and crew sorted

always hae someone as a back9up that you could calllast minute !ust in case someone does drop out forwhateer reason, plus oer crewing isn"t a bad idea asthe more hands the better on a big production.

2. '%tras and smaller roles are !ust as important Bust because an e%tra or in Sunday League a bridesmaidlooks like an easy small role you can worry about later,

this de1nitely isn"t the case and with scenes like thewedding and the nightclub you don"t want to be without



e%tras so cast the roles like the bridesmaid the same asyou would the main cast.

3. 0on"t under estimate Bust because a scene is a Duarter or half the page long

and you feel it could be done in an hour double thattime, you hae to gie yourself time when 1lming assetting up takes time as well as the actors getting intorole plus the aerage 2 takes per shot so always gieyourself plenty of time to shoot eerything.
