October 2015

The programmes that are presented by the Lynwood fellowship do not reflect the views or beliefs of any

individual trustee but are offered for your deliberation

Whilst at our September seminar at

Cober Hill in Cloughton near to

Scarborough the board of trustees

led by Peter Hague our Chairman,

dedicated a bench to our founder

Don Galloway.

We felt that being able to sit on the

bench looking out across the most

wonderful scenery at Cober Hill

which is the unofficial home of

Lynwood, would meet with Don’s

approval.

Thank you to Lindsay (the Manager

of Cober Hill) for this beautiful

photo . . . I think Don is on the

bench. If you look closely you will

see the orange orb to the right.

Bless you Don for your legacy to us.

The first guy on the left is Patrick Keogh our newly appointed trustee. We extend a

warm welcome to him.

The rest of the board of trustees on the back row are:- Mike Doig, Peter Hague, Marion

Hamilton and Jan Elliot. The front row seated are:- Shonagh Moore, Barbara Hague and

Leah Bond.

Nail in Tree Long time ago, there lived a boy in a village. He used to get an-

gry for every little thing. In anger, he used to shout at other peo-

ple for almost no reason. Disappointed with this attitude, his fa-

ther called him one day and gave him a bag full of nails. Then he

said to his son, "Whenever you get angry at anything, just take

one nail out of this bag and pierce it in the trunk of the tree out-

side our home."First day, the boy got angry forty times. He

pierced forty nails on the tree due to this. He got extremely tired

of this activity. Next day, he tried to control himself, but still got

angry thirty times, and pierced thirty nails on the tree. Gradually,

he started getting lesser angry, as he found the piercing of nails

on tree a very tiresome task. After a few days, a day came when he did not get angry even a single time.

The boy went to his father and told him about this. The father said, "Good, now do one thing, every day when you

do not get angry, take a nail out of the tree." The boy did the same. After many days, a day came when he took out

the last nail from the tree. He became very happy and told his father about it.

Then his father took him near the tree and said, "Dear son, you have done a great job. But, can you see these

holes on this tree, due to piercing of nails on it. The tree can never be the same, as it used to be before you had

pierced first nail into its trunk. My dear son, in this same way when you speak harsh words to someone in anger,

then those words pierce the soul of the other person. Sometimes, they become so deep that the person dies but

the holes of his/her souls are never healed. Promise me, you will always think about this before you utter a single

harsh word to anyone." Author unknown

My youngest daughter used to have conversations with

angels every night. One night when she was just two

and a half, she asked me to tell them not to have so many

in her room because she was tired and wanted to sleep

some more. I told her to ask the angels not to stay that

night, and we did it together. The next morning when I

asked her how she slept, she told me that only “Michael”

had stayed at the foot of her bed to help her sleep more

peacefully. I got chills, knowing who Michael was. When

she noticed my reaction, she said, “Yep, Mommy, he’s my

favorite, too!” I’d never told her angel names—I always let

her tell me. TERI BAKER SCHAFFER
