• Lymph Vessels: Carry lymph, walls are permeable to allow increase in size. • Central Lymphoid Tissues:

– Bone Marrow- Produces all pluripotent lymphoid cells in adults and helps in distinction of B-Lymphocytes.

– Thymus- Helps in differentiation of T-Lymphocytes• Peripheral Lymphoid Organs:

– Lymph Node- Small nodules of lymphoid tissue that purify the lymph. Found in the smaller lymph vessels.

– Spleen- Removes old blood cells and keeps a reserve of blood in case of emergency. Synthesizes antibodies.

– Epitheliolymphoid tissues- Lymphoid nodules that work as security against all incoming factors. Located in alimentary canal and respiratory tracts.

• Lymphocytes: Mature B- and T-Lymphocytes that protect the body from infectious factors in the blood.

Contribute to the Body

• The lymphatic system sends lymph fluid throughout the entire body which helps fight infection. When there is infection in the body it would raise your temperature causing a fever. Any infection or malfunction can throw of normal processes which affect homeostasis. Without the lymphatic system, your body couldn’t fight against infection.

• It works together with the immune system to aid in the removal of negative substances such as cancer cells, toxins, waste, dead blood cells, etc.
