Noise Makers Needed for State Roundup Assemblies

Our noise maker stash is pretty low. If you have some you can bring for your 4-H members for the assem-blies, that would be great! Clay Wilson, District Coun-cil Officer from Wheeler County, will be leading our chants and will also have the noise makers to distrib-ute. The district will be bringing glow in the dark neck-laces for one of the evenings for everyone. Bringing noise makers definitely isn’t a must but makes assem-blies more fun for everyone.

County offices are encouraged to reach out to these alumni and involve them in 4-H by signing their children up for 4-H (if not already), asking them to volunteer or maybe become a donor to the program. The top eight county 4-H Programs will receive a $500 cash prize for county program enhancement. Raise you hand at http://texas4-h.tamu.edu/raiseyourhand to show your pride as a 4-H alumni and vote for Texas.

Horse Happenings

District Horse Show

June 23rd

4-H Connect registration closes midnight , June 9th

State 4-H Horse Show July 22-29 Taylor County Expo Center Abilene, TX

https://animalscience.tamu.edu/livestock-species/equine/state-4h-show/

• At District and State Shows, a horse may be ridden by only one 4-H’er per Class. Separate age groups do NOT count as separate classes. Example: a horse may be ridden in barrels by one 4-Her and Stakes by another 4-Her, provid-ed that the 4-H’ers are siblings, the ownership requirements are met, and the horse has been properly Validated as a 4-H project (see validation rules). Exception: Drill and precision riding. Futurity horses may never be ridden by more than one person.

o Previously horses could only be ridden by one 4-Her per division. This has been changed to one 4-Her

per class, so that families with limited horses and multiple siblings can more easily participate. • Lower fence heights have been set for Juniors in the over fences classes. • Juniors will have an extended time (45 seconds) to complete their run in the roping division. We are working to finalize the show schedule for this year and as soon as that process is complete, the schedule will be available on the website. We will also be posting updates on our Facebook page “Texas 4-H Horse” https://www.facebook.com/texas4hhorse/. The State 4-H Horse Show website is https://animalscience.tamu.edu/livestock-species/equine/state-4h-show/.
