Parkrun - Karkarook

Parkrun Karkarook had its 1st birthday on 18th of November, and theend of the Lions sponsorship, but not the end of the friendship! We stillhave an interest in common - Karkarook Park, and there will be plenty ofworking bees in the future!

For those unfamiliar with the area, Karkarook Park is a recreational andenvironmental oasis, revegetated with indigenous plants. The 15 hectarelake is a good spot for canoeing, kayaking or sailing. You can explorethe park on foot or bike on 6km of trails. Take the dog for a walk. Or tryyour luck fishing for Rainbow Trout or Red Fin.

Here's What 586,860 Aluminium

Ring-Pulls Looks Like! 132Kg of ring-pulls have been collectedby Lions and friends of recent years -now it's time to recycle them. at $1 kgthat's $132 going to the Lions CordBlood Foundation. The project worksby multitudes of people saving their ringpulls (Aluminium only - and that'simportant!) and passing them on in thecourse of their normal social interaction -so that they eventually accumulate at theLions Club with nil cost of transport.

The Lions Cord Blood Foundation Inc. was initiated in 1996 by LionLaurie Denton (deceased) a former member of the Lions Club ofWaverley Inc. Managed by the Lions Club of Waverley Inc.V5. ADistrict Project of 201V5 and since the Multiple District Convention inQueensland in 2006 the Foundation continues as a Category B Projectuntil June 2020.
