The Lion and the Mouse

One hot afternoon, a large lion was napping in theshade. A small mouse was looking for a bite of lunch. Heran across the lion's paw. The mouse didn't see dangeruntil it was too late. He was caught in the lion's paw.

"Please don't eat me," begged the little mouse. "Letme go and someday I will repay you."

"How can a little thing like you ever help the King ofBeasts?" But the lion let the little mouse go.

A few weeks later, the unhappy lion was trapped in ahunter's net. He roared as he tried to break the strongropes.

The little mouse heard the lion's loud roars. Themouse thought, "That is the lion that let me go. I must seeif I can help him."

The mouse rushed to where the lion was caught. Hebegan to gnaw at the ropes. Before long the lion was free.

"See, I told you I would repay you someday," said themouse. "Even a tiny mouse can sometimes help the Kingof Beasts."
