Message from the Director

Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year. Teachers are back and busily engaged this week in workshops and preparing

their classrooms for opening day next Tuesday. Everyone is excited and energy abounds.

As usual we’ve undertaken a number of school improvement projects during the recess. Some are still in progress, but

we anticipate closure shortly.

Renovation of six bathrooms;

Expansion of the cafeteria kitchen facilities and a redesign of the food service area;

Makeover of the primary school Music room;

Improvements to the ELC play area;

Renovation of two secondary Science labs;

Installation of a wooden deck near the secondary Arts Centre;

Construction of a Tuck Shop;

Enclosure of storage containers;

Expansion of the guard house;

Installation of new pool fence (delayed due to back order).

With the awarding of a $250,000 security grant from the U.S. Embassy, we are now in the process of installing closed

circuit TV cameras, additional perimeter lighting, a new public address system and an additional generator. Shortly,

we will arrange a parent meeting to explain the operation of our new secure entry/exit system and address any ques-

tions or concerns.

I am proud to present our new staff members, many of whom are coming from international schools around the

world. Among them you will see some of our veteran staff members who have taken on new assignments. Art

teachers, Suzanna Anderson and Richard Mather-Pike, are both recovering well from recent surgeries. Qualified and

experienced substitutes will cover their classes for the next several weeks.

Best wishes for SY2012-2013.
