FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Dear Friends in Christ, Today we celebrate the feast of the Holy Trinity. “God in three Persons, Blessed Trinity” as the popular song reminds us. Saint Patrick used a clover to explain the trinity one stem with three leaves. Our Gospel, part of Jesus’ farewell discourse, reminds Jesus’ followers and us that the Spirit of God is with us.. As we begin our season of summer it nice to remember the Spirit travels with us wherever we go. It strengthened the early Church, it strengthens us. Most large Church gatherings implore the Spirits presence. Pope John XXIII opened the Second Vatican Council with the following Prayer “We stand before you, Holy Spirit, conscious of our sinfulness, but aware that we gather in your name. Come to us, remain with us, and enlighten our hearts. Give us light and strength to know your will, to make it our own, and to live it in our lives. Guide us by your wisdom, support us by your power, for you are God, sharing the glory of Father and Son. You desire justice for all: enable us to uphold the rights of others; do not allow us to be misled by ignorance or corrupted by fear or favour. Unite us to yourself in the bond of love and keep us faithful to all that is true. As we gather in your name may we temper justice with love, so that all our decisions may be pleasing to you, and earn the reward promised to good and faithful servants. You live and reign with the Father and the Son, One God, forever and ever. Amen.” May the Church and her members live up to that prayer. Blessings to All Father Tom

Sunday, July 14, 2019 Balancing Prayer and Work: Dancing the Delicate Dance Presenter: Michael Boover Many of us seek to live a life that balances leisure and labor but are hard-pressed to actually do so. This retreat invites participants to explore the “ins and outs” of the spiritual life by opening to inner and outer movements that may prove helpful and hopeful in the daily round of faith. Participants will be invited to integrate needed contemplation with blessed activism in their particular life circumstances. 9:15 am – 4:00 pm (Registration begins at 8:30 am) Lunch and Mass included in the program. Suggested Donation: $45 per person Sunday, July 14th – Sunday, July 21st, 2019 Preached and Directed Retreat for Religious and Laity Living the Psalms, Living in God’s Presence Presenters: Fr. Flavio Gillio & Dottie Levesque The Psalms present us with endless inspiration and provide us with a window into the very nature of God. The Psalms teach us how to relate to God with all of life’s experiences and emotions: frustration, doubt, fear, anger, shame, hatred, sorrow and insecurities; but also with praise, joy and gratitude. Let us explore Israel’s ancient prayers and the Church’s Prayer of the Hours. Discover who we are and what God means for us. Become free to pray passionately with emotion as sincere worshipers in our quest to experience God’s presence. The retreat begins Sunday at 7:00 pm (Registration at 6:30 pm) Ends Sunday after Brunch Suggested Donation: $550 per person Saturday, July 27th, 2019 Day of Prayer: Journaling My Journey Presenter: Dottie Levesque Many young people keep a diary ... a record of people seen, work accomplished and emotions expressed. Ad-olescence matures into adulthood and the diary be-comes a journal. A journal is a commitment made to self -- to the "God-in-me". It is a prayerful method of putting words to one's thoughts. Four styles of jour-naling will be presented. There will, of course, be time for experimenting with each style. 9:15 am – 4:00 pm (Registration begins at 8:30 am) Lunch included in the program. Suggested Donation: $45 per person
