This assignment will be looking into an in depth view culturally of how we perceive whats known as the

(werewolf, Wolf-man or Lycan) since the past till this present day and also the different ways of how thewerewolf has been viewed over time. Joe Johnstons The Wolfman (2010) will be viewed to show and represent

how we have viewed and perceived the typical wolfman/werewolf and the time zone used to represent what time

zone werewolves are represented with. Catherine Hardwicke Twilight (2008 onwards) will be showing a much

more loving a calming side to werewolfs, showing that there not always savage wild beasts and always rely on

the full moon to change into a werewolf but much more change whenever they want, love and even seem to

come across as a lot more handsome as a human if there a werewolf. Also as well the old child stories of little

red riding hood and the big bad wolf and the 3 little piggies how the stories have been explained to the children

but yet never have been explained the werewolfs as savage beasts but much more silly ways of representingthem. Neil Marshalls Dog Soldiers (2002) is a great example of how exactly werewolves have always been

perceived as savage wild beasts. Not a care in the wild and running free to eat whoever and whatever they want,

showing a much more gruesome, dark side to werewolves. Stephen Sommers Van Helsing (2004) and Len

Wisemans Underworld (2003 onwards) will show how we nowadays would perceive a werewolf to look like and

also the typically how culture has always said that in order to change into a werewolf or vampire you must get

bitten by one, so thus then also showing how history and even to this present day we still have kept by that and

its always been used within films never changed and finally the mythology or history behind the werewolf from

the start with King Lycaon known as the 1st ever werewolf and the story behind that.

Cultural Context The typical cultural view of the werewolf passed down through folklore was that in order to

change or become a werewolf one would have to simply get bitten by another werewolf andalso wait for a full moon in order to change.

The Werewolf is also represented that of a sexual predator which relate very much to that of

red riding hood.

The general term used to represent that of a human transformation into an animal form is

known as Lycanthropy

Conclusion Werewolves have changed a lot through the ages due to technology and are becoming more fearsome

and realistic and are able to show much reactions then what could have been done before.

Werewolves arent always represented as wild savage beasts and can actually control when they morph in

and out of there forms rather than relying on the full moon.

The changes through the ages as well also have shown that in this culture we would much rather see a full

grown savage beastly werewolf rather than whats known as a Wolfman which just basically looks like a

furry man with lots of overgrown hair and Sharpe teeth. Werewolves are much more looked as overgrown,powerful creatures.
