On Sunday night, between 10 and 11 o'clock, some one stole a valuable three year old percheron mare from the bam yard of Mr. M. H. Whitmore, chairman of the Board of Supervisors.

The thief also stole f rvMn him a bridle and a saddle and bridle from Mr. Joe. Arnold, who lives on the adjoining farm.

Ea r i y Monday morning Mr. Whitmore got in communication with Sheriff Ed wards and a search was made in every d i re e t i on . The animal was tracked by them ov» a circuitous route as far as I^esburg and on a badt street leading into the Washington ptke and thinking the thief was head­ed for Washington, they imme­diately went there in an automo­bile but found on furtho- trace.

Circulars have been sent o u t broadcast, describing the mare as a three yearoid Hack, with white star In forehead and one white hind foot.

A reward of $100 is (^ered for the apprehoision of the thief and the recovery of the animal—Lou­doun Mirror.

Rich dog soils may r e q u i r e t h e a b o v e amount, while sandy soils in a poor state of fertiUty require less. SOUR SOIL AND THE WHEAT CROP

It is especially imporant to test all land to be seeded to wheat and appiv lime if sour, because you not ODiv get a lazier yield of irrain but timothy and clover are usually seeded m wheat, and one or both may fail on sour soils.'

The Ohio exoerimenU show that lime does not take tbe place of fertilizer or manure, but it supplements them. The experiments further show very etrikinfflv that when lime and fertilizers are used on the same land the yield of crops is greater than the sum of the yields from the two used seperatdv. However, if lime is used akHie and no iwoyision is made for maintaining the supply of or-Kanic matter and plant-food in the soil, the er< ) yields cannot be maintained, and the yields from the use of lime in such a system fall off rapidly and may finally drop below that of unlimited land.
