Logo and Branding Updates The SCCOE is transitioning to a new color and logo. We have moved to the blue logo to provide a fresh and professional look for our organization while also being helpful for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance. The transition will be implemented in different phases to help with the cost and transition. In the initial stages, we are asking that logos used for electronic communications be changed out as soon as possible. Examples would be our email signature, e-newsletters, web pages, e- stationary, video graphics, online forms, and social media accounts.

Kudos to all 260 staff whoparticipated in this year’s mood-boosting staff wellness event. The eventincluded a one-hour keynote speaker, David Romanelli, followed by fitness and wellness breakoutsessions, healthy snacks, and a fun vendor fair. Public Hearing on Bullying Awareness

Assemblymember Kansen Chu and the Select Committee on Hate Crimes will be hosting a PublicHearing on Bullying Awareness on Friday, October 12 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m at the County ofSanta Clara Board of Chambers. The hearing will focus on the increase in hate crimes and bias-related bullying and how they are impacting our children, teachers, parents, and community. Civic Learning Awards Now Accepting Applications

Applications for the 2018-19 Civic Learning Awards are open! The award, distributed by theCalifornia Department of Education, is intended to celebrate successful efforts to engage studentsin civic learning and to identify at each grade span effective models that can be replicated. The Civic Learning Award has three levels: Awards of Excellence, Distinction, and Merit. Check out these immunization updates from the Santa Clara County Public Health Department! California school immunization requirements will be be undergoingchanges, effective July 1, 2019. It's not too early to start preparing. Startingin the 2019-2020 school year, changes to the California schoolimmunizations requirement regulations are as follows: Requiring 2 (rather than 1@< 13 years) doses of chickenpox vaccine at: - Kindergarten entry - 7th grade advancement - catch-up thru 2025 - K-12 - new admission or transfer Remove age and date restrictions: - Mumps, hepatitis B, Hib, pertussis, chickenpox Admission/transfer for K-12: - 2 doses MMR - 3 doses Hep B (when allowed by statute) Medical exemptions for new admissions: - Must be signed - California–licensed Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) - Each temporary exemption may be issued for no more than 12 months Future resources to support implementation in 2019-2020 include revised - Immunization requirement schedules and guides. - Blue cards for recording doses. - Updates will be posted at www.shotsforschool.org Also included on the Santa Clara County Public Health Department fall newsletter are currentvaccination requirements, planning for fall reporting, preventive actions to fight off illness,information for new school nurses, SCC TB mandate reminders, immunization materials for schoolstaff, and more!
