1 October 2021 The LakeShark Bytes Newsletter ANOTHER GREAT PHLOCKING GONE TO THE DOGS (AND CATS!) A big thank you to all our members and guests attending the September 26th Phlocking and for their generous donations of pet supplies and cash to support Pawsitive Effects. You donated 1,044 pounds of pet supplies and a $250 cash donation to support their efforts. In addition a $125 cash donation was made to the Humane Society of Highlands County. Turn to pages 2 and 3 for pictures and a great thank you note from our members Steve and Gini Shevick of Pawsitive Effects. The thirty six Parrot Heads in attendance were treated to a great performance by a new (to us) musician, writer and overall great performer - Jesse Ray Stout singing and playing guitar, percussion, harmonica and even a train whistle. All live, no looping, no background tracks. Just amazing! Thank you Jesse, we definitely need you back soon! The great bicycle raffle was a big hit and raised $300 which will be going directly to charity. The winner (drum roll …….) Linda Breslich. For those of us who didn't win - no worries, Linda promises to video a ride down the beach and post it for our enjoyment (or to just gloat.) Again thank you Steve Gill and Michelle Gillum for the bicycle donation. A THANK YOU NOTE FROM STEVE AND GINI

We would like to give

a huge THANK YOU

to the Heartland

LakeSharks Parrot

Head Club! Their

“Party with a

Purpose” September

Phlocking was

dedicated to

Pawsitive Effects,

Inc. Their incredible members donated 1,044 pounds

of combined pet food and kitty litter, toys and other

great items for dogs and cats. These donations will go to

our local non profit rescues and shelters.

Without organizations like this, our mission would not

be Paw-sible!

Thank you again for your continued support

NO PHLOCKING PLANNED FOR OCTOBER

As we were getting ready for the trip to Key West for Meeting of the

Minds and continuing to finalize details for the Christmas float, we

realized that a Phlocking in October was not in the cards. However,

we are planning on a special Phlocking on November 14 to make up

for it. Normally, we do not Phlock in November, so this is what

makes it special.

Also in November we will be collecting "Toiletries for Vet's Ditty

Bags" that we normally collect for in October. Need: Tooth paste,

tooth brushes, dental floss, body soap, liquid hand soap, nail clippers,

shampoo & conditioner, disposable razors, shaving cream, combs,

hand sanitizer, lotion, mouthwash, body/baby powder, small

packages of treats, Kleenex, pens/notepads.

Additionally, we will soon be sending out details for our annual toy

drive benefitting RCMA.

More information on the November Phlocking and the toy drive to

follow soon.

PHIP YOUTUBE CHANNEL

Parrot Heads in Paradise (our parent

organization) is beginning exciting work on

building a YouTube channel. They need our

help. Simply go to the YouTube link below and

subscribe.

The following email information is from

Vincent MacQueen, Communication and Technology, Co-Chair of PHiP.

Parrot Heads in Paradise inc. next big project is to build and fill our YouTube channel with content. Videos of musical events, and Club functions, both social and charitable. We are going to add videos on subject matter such as, “Questions that Bother us So”. This can be “how to” videos, meetings and different content that you are looking for answers to. But what I think will be the best part to our YouTube channel, is videos of your club. This is one of the best ways to get your club’s face out there in Parrot Head Nation. To show us what you’re all about, what you love to do, your membership and all that you do. Wouldn’t it be cool for someone searching the net for Parrot Heads and your video comes up and tells them all about you… I think it would be! I need a huge favor from you. While we are building the channel, we need to get to 1000 subscriptions to reach the next level. Please visit the link below and subscribe to our channel. You can find us at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/c/ParrotHeadsinParadiseinc
