How to add newsfeeds to My News and Updates

One way to help stay up-to-date with developments in your subject areas is to subscribe to an alerting or

newsfeed service. A newsfeed allows websites to distribute their content and helps users to stay up to date

with the latest content added to a site. Feeds are also known as RSS. Feeds help you take control of the

information you are interested in without having to remember to visit the sites or clutter up your email

box. Feed readers help you to collate all the information/feeds in one place (in this case the My News and

Updates widget).

The News widget provides news from selected websites and journal contents pages.

Mobile Apps

This page enables you to search for apps and mobile websites from suppliers including Ebsco, SIGN, Oxford

University Press and BNF in the Mobile Knowledge area of The Knowledge Network.

Mobile apps are downloaded on to your device and can then usually work offline (without being connected

to the internet). Apps can also take advantage of features on your device like cameras or sound recorders.

These toools are developed for specific devices so you may find that one has been created for the iPhone

but not the Blackberry or vice-versa.
