villagers in France through his example of holiness, his celebration of the Mass, his

teachings, and his ability to touch people’s souls in the Sacrament of Penance. Although the “Year Of Priests” celebration officially ends in a few weeks, we as

Catholics should continue to hold up our priests and those who are discerning the

call to priesthood in prayer and support the vital work they do. Only God can fully

sustain a priest in his vocations, but we as Catholics can also provide everyday

support and encouragement.

Here are a few suggestions we can do to help our priests: Pray for Priests. Let your priest know that you are praying for him. He

will appreciate your spiritual support

Support vocations to the priesthood and Religious life. Participate and be active by coming to Mass and getting involved in

your parish. Use your gifts and talents to help the parish grow.

Read about the vital role of priests in the life of the Church. Invite your priest to dinner to thank him for all he has done for you

and your family.

Please show your appreciation for your parish priest!

matters). It may be that with the current economic situation, you don’t have much money to donate – but you

have time, and energy and opportunities to do some small part of the work we are doing here at St. Monica.

We each have been given more blessings than we can imagine, so we have to be serious about giving of our self

in return.

It is exciting to be part of such a dedicated and inspiring group of men. But, we all have to be sure that we

don’t let our good efforts run out of gas. We each have to do our part.

Bishop’s Mass For Persons with Disabilities and Caregivers

Bishop J. Douglas Deshotel, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Dallas, will celebrate Mass on Saturday,

June 26, 2010 at 5:00PM at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Farmers Branch. There will be a

celebration of the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick during the Mass. The Mass will be interpreted in sign

language.

Congratulations to Jordan Spieth on his outstanding performance in the HP Byron Nel-

son Championship May 17-23 at the TPC Four Seasons Resort in Las Colinas. Jordan, a 16

year old junior at Jesuit College Preparatory School, became the sixth-youngest player to

make a cut in a PGA Tour event. He made national headlines during this event and drew

large galleries that included Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. He is considered the

nation’s top-ranked junior golfer.

Jordan received a lot of support from students and parishioners from the Dallas Diocese

which included his Jesuit classmates, several members from the cheerleading squad from the

Ursuline Academy, and many of his former classmates from St Monica Catholic School

where he attended. Jordan’s parents, Shawn and Chris, and his younger brother, Steven, were also on there to

support him during the event.

Jordan competed as an amateur in the event amongst noted professional golfers. He contended into the final

round and finished in a tie for 16th at a 4-under-par 276. Professional golfer Jason Day of Ft Worth won the

event finishing 10-under-par 270.

Seminarian Charles Githinji has completed his assignment here at St Monica Catholic Church and is

returning to St. Mary’s Seminary in Houston. Brother Charles thank the St Monica Community during the

Masses for their support and prayers. He reflected on the words of encouragement he received from the

parishioners during his work here and that working here in the parish has affirmed his desires of becoming a

priest. He will resume his studies at St. Mary’s for two more years. Please continue to pray for Charles as well

as all of the Seminarians as they continue their journey into the priesthood. -article by Daryl Avery

While we may be blessed with enough food to eat there are those around us who struggle to put food on

the table. The North Dallas Shared Ministries is a local organization that provides assistance to those less

fortunate. Their Food Pantry provides food and hygiene items to over 30,000 people each year.

As a way to help out the Food Pantry, please bring non-perishable food items to the next council general
