Sc Environmental Science and Technology students on 30th April, 2nd and 3rd May, 2011 at ISTAR building under the dynamic guidance of Professor B.G. Patel, Director, ISTAR & former Vice-Chancellor, S.P University. Cema Saratoga USA Group of Co. Furaat Rainwater Conservation, Envirocare Associates, Wockhardt limited, Gujarat Enviro Protection and Infrastructure Limited, Environmental Engineer- Services, The Green Environment Services Co-op. Society Ltd Vapi waste management and effluent treatment company, T R Associates, Siddhi Consultant, Poll Cont Associates, Precitech Laboratory, Jyoti Oh Chemical research center, Kadam Environmental Consultants, Effluent Channel Project Limited, Paramount limited had come to ISTAR to conduct campus interviews. All the interviews were conducted as per the schedule prefixed by the department along with presentations followed by written tests and personal interviews. The selected students will receive annual initial package varies from one to another industry / consultancy / institute which ranges from Rs 1.5 lakh to 2.50 lakh apart from traveling and D.A and will resume their duties by 15th May.Thirty eight who have attended, out of forty four students were selected during campus interviews and remaining students will immigrate to US, UK and European countries for higher studies. Dr. Nirmal Kumar, J.I, Professor and Head , Department of Environmental Science and Technology emphasized that arrangement of campus interviews in M.Sc Environmental Science and Technology subject in ISTAR is very much essential for the student’s carrier so as to better equipped with theoretical knowledge to put it into practice in the present scenario of the global pollution and abatement and to achieve job offer and higher placements . The course covers areas like water, industrial and air pollution monitoring and abatement, occupational health, hygiene and safety,monitoring and assessment of environmental degradation, EIA and legislation, environmental microbiology, phyto- remediation, occupational toxicology, ecology and environmental biology & chemistry, biodiversity, remote sensing, natural hazards, computer applications, instrumentation and environmental biotechnology. Prof.B.G.Patel , Director stated that ISTAR has started M.Sc programs in the year June,1999 , looking into the need and demand of the society particularly in the industrially developed “Golden Corridor of Gujarat” and other states of India in general. Since then, this course too runs with full strength every year. Chief of the Maha Gujarat movement Indulal Yagnik and many other were memories with great respect and honour by salutes. The ‘Torch Rally’ started from the campus of Snatram Mandir and walked on the way of the town. The rally was joined by the Municipal staff and citizens. The Ahmedabad based celebration was live telecasted at the Ipcowala hall of the town. The late evening celebration started by lamp lighting conducted by the collector Dr. S. Murlikrishanan, DDO Manisha Chandra, President of the District Panchayat MR. Rakesh Rao, DSP Mr. Rajendrabhai Asari, ADM Mr. Rathod and president of Nadiad municipality Mr. Sanjaybhai Desai. The town people enjoyed the closing ceremony and wishes for coming diamond jubilee. After complement of state level celebration Chief whip Pankaj Desai was also came to join the celebration.
