From the Golf Shop ~ Jake Hanley, First Assistant Golf Professional

Summer is in full bloom here at The Jeremy. There are many fun social and golfing events scheduled for this July. The driving range is now completely open and the golf course is in great condition. The golf shop hours through the summer months are Monday through Sunday 6:30am until 8:00pm. The driving range hours are 7:00AM until 7:30pm Tuesday through Sunday and 3:00PM until 7:30pm on Mondays. Last but certainly not least, the golf course is open from 7:00am until dark seven days a week. Please check an activities calendar to see which Mondays will hold corporate tournaments.

When practicing on the range there are a few items that we request you could follow. In an effort to save as much turf as possible the club adopted a policy a few years ago that allows guests to hit range balls only on days when they are playing with a member. Appropriate attire will be worn on the practice fa-cilities and golf course. Men must wear golf shirts with sleeves and golf slacks or medium length shorts. Tank tops, tee shirts, jeans, athletic shorts, etc. are not permissible. Women’s shorts and/or golf skirts must be of medium length. Halters, mid-riffs, athletic shorts, short-shorts, and jeans are not permitted. Juniors are included in this Dress Code Policy. For those members who do not have bag tags please swing by the golf shop and we will gladly make one for you. When coming to practice or play, we ask that everyone please park in the parking lot and not on the street. Thank you for your compliance and support of these items regarding the practice facility.

The first golfing event of July will be the Men’s Round Up. This is the clubs premiere event of the sea-son and it will be held Wednesday, July 12th through Saturday, July 15th. The membership will be able to play at any of the reciprocating clubs (Riverside, Ogden, Logan, Alpine, Willow Creek, Oakridge) on Thursday, July 13th through Saturday, July 15th for only cart fees.

The second Couples Golf Night will be held on Friday, July 21st. $60.00 per couple, includes dinner, and golf. Limited to the first twenty six couples to sign-up. A great time is guaranteed so sign up in the golf shop today.

The Ladies Association will be holding their Invitational on Friday, July 28th and Saturday, July 29th. This great annual event still has open spots so sign up in the golf shop today.

Adrian DeJesus is a new face in the golf shop that came to us from Palo Alto, California. Adrian will be our golf grip expert and can change grips in a flash. Get a grip and regrip your clubs today.

Please call the golf shop or check out our website (www.thejeremy.com) to sign up for any upcoming events. Thank you for all of your continued support and if there is anything we can do to make your ex-perience better here at The Jeremy please let us know. See you on the first tee.

TRAVEL NEWS FROM PAULA WILDE

What a wonderful place to visit and yes play golf too. The Moose are always on the loose, even in the city as are the fox that run through the forests and golf courses. In speaking with the Pro at the Anchorage Golf Course, He said that they play golf all year round . The use of orange golf balls is needed during the snow season.

I found it very hard to comprehend that they play tournaments at 7:30pm and even at 10:30pm during the summer months. The longest summer day is 20 hours of sunlight.

The golf course was just beginning to wake up after a long winter. Anchorage gets late weather much like us with late dustings of snow. The course is tight with mature pine trees. The fairways were fast and air raided. The greens had cold winter damage and are covered most of the time until the temperature is stable.

The cost to play this course is very reasonable. Rented premium clubs, Callaway’s $21 or Wilson’s $14 and $35 for a round of golf including cart. Walking is permit-ted as the course is pretty flat. The views are absolutely amazing: snow covered

mountains, wildlife and the spring flowers. You never know what is going to greet you around the next turn: maybe a moose: maybe an eagle or other animals known to the area.

Overall, the course is probably not the best that I have seen or played. But with such harsh winters it is amazing that they have one. The views and just getting out and enjoying the day will make it worth your time and effort.

NEXT STOP CABO!

Hello to all JLA Members!

We are hoping that you are enjoying many wonderful days of golf on our fabulous course. Both of our leagues are seeing great numbers show up and participate. For those of you who have not played yet, remember we have a Tuesday 18 hole league that plays at 8:30am in a shotgun and a Wednesday 9 hole league which you make a tee time. We would love to see you at both. Check in the golf shop for results each week. They are posted by the handicap computer.

In July we will be helping with our Men’s Round Up. We need volunteers to help with the beverage trailers and also to “man” the par three holes (to verify hole in ones). Please sign Up in the ladies locker room if you can volunteer for a shift. Pro-ceeds go to our organization. We would very much appreciate your help! Also we collect for a basket of “libations” Information is in the locker room.

Our board meets the third Thursday of each month. Again feel free to contact us with questions. We hope that your golf days are filled with pars and birdies.

Bag Drop and Golf Cart Parking Lot Procedure

Since creating the bag drop last year, the outside golf staff has attempted to monitor and assist any golfers pulling up to the bag drop while neglect-ing those players who park in the parking lot and carry their own bags until they are within a close proximity of the bag drop podium. This has been club procedure since the inception of the bag drop in an attempt to better service members so they will not have to carry their own bags from their car. If the outside golf staff were to help golfers in the parking lot there would be no one at the bag drop to assist golfers who are utilizing the bag drop for its purpose.

When dropping off a bag, please do not ask to have a cart brought up to the bag drop, as our club procedure is to keep carts out of the parking lot. This is done for the safety of the golfers who experience The Jeremy.

At the conclusion of your round please utilize the out-side golf staff in the cart staging area to assist you with your clubs. Our staff will clean your clubs and have them at the bag drop area in an orderly matter of time. This will also help keep golf carts out of the parking lot.

Thank you for helping to make The Jeremy experi-ence safe and enjoyable.
