The Jam Methodology: Tools and strategies to solve problems, bring in innovation, and design new services. Case study of a read start-up that came out of a three-day service jam event.TRANSCRIPT
The Jam Method:
How to innovate in a fast & dynamic way
• Bring a bunch of strangers together, give them a specific task and a tough theme, let them follow some basic but rather lose rules, ask them to self-organize, ask them to sound impressively smart at the end…and the result:
The 2nd Law of Thermodynamics !!!
The second law of thermodynamics states that the entropy of an isolated system never decreases, because isolated systems always evolve towards thermodynamic equilibrium, a state with maximum entropy…
CHAOS!
Chaos? Well, not really…
The way to have ONE good idea is to have lots!
The Jam Method allows for a constant flow of ideas and certain cognitive activities including sketches, affinity diagrams, creating mind maps, etc. which end up supporting the creative process and the rupture of conventional thinking.
• FoodBay.biz: The B2B online market for surplus food
– We are an online platform that connects food-business supply and demand sides, enabling B2B exchange of food that would otherwise be wasted.
– We use a 2-tier bidding system based on an online platform: the 1st tier bid is accepted based on the highest offer for a certain food lot. In case the food lot is not sold, the 2nd tier bidding algorithm decides on approved donation to a non-commercial organization (charity, NGO, foood bank, etc.)
