The Campania Region strategy keeps onprogressing in Universitytraining and research, aiming atcompetitiveness through:actions harmonization,shared and cooperativegovernance among severalactors,internationalization and evaluation.

The action of the Region hasthree key points:• to integrate basic training,

Therefore the planning andthe liveliness of the Regionaim at attracting andconsolidating the presence inCampaniaof the enterprises, which are linked to innovation and research activities.

It is necessary to guaranteecontinuity and support to theinitiatives already ongoing inthe territory (institutions of research and regionalCentres of Competence),for a new and effectiveengagement in thetechnological transfer, withthe contribution of skilledbodies and organizations within the enterprises system.

Campania Research System.A modern system of knowledgeand services dedicated to global development.

Knowledge and technological innovation constitute the maincompetitive “asset” not onlyfor enterprises, but also for theterritorial systems. Since manyyears Campania Region iscommitted to invest anddevelop the capability to perform scientificresearch and to achieve technological innovation for the successful development of the territory.One of the key activities ofCampania Region action is todevelop and aggregate on territorial scale initiatives of excellence with a strongvocation towards researchand innovation. Campania Region hasestablished a set of horizontaland vertical priority axes to beaggregated. In fact,aggregation is one of thekeyword of the Region’sstrategy for territorialdevelopment.Horizontal axes include ICT,biotechnologies, materials technologies. The vertical axesrefer to aerospace, logisticsand transport, health, food andagro-industry, cultural heritage

and environmental monitoring(early warning).The essential requirements forthis development system aresustainability and quality of actions, which are based on a virtuous cross-assessment both by research and enterprises.The first phase of deploymentof the mechanisms has alreadybeen completed with the aggregation of public researchcentres and thus with the establishment of the RegionalCompetence Centres involvingall R&D players on the territory.The second phase is already in progress and concerns theappointments to matchinnovation and research supplyand demand of R&D andenterprises.The third phase takesadvantage of economicresources and scientific andtechnologicalexcellence to support new sustainable activities.In Campania we have set up a very dynamic research and opportunity system for theworld of innovation and wekeep on working towards astrong territorial liveliness.

The Competence Centres. The most effective toolsin order to improve.

BENECONBENI CULTURALI, ECOLOGIA, ECONOMIABENECON carries out analysis andevaluation of territory, environmentalreclaiming, recovery and maintenanceof landscape, archaeological, urbanand construction settings and, inaddition, designs and develops greenbusinesses and eco-museum areas.

The Centre is engaged in researchactivities that include analysis anddiagnosis of the environment to control

the presence and the intensity of physical,chemical and biological impacts andfor the experimental elaboration andverification of right solutions for asustainable uses of resources.

The productive fields that have a clearaffinity with BENECON’s outputs areenergy, lighting system, acoustics,electromagnetic fields, analysis of airquality, of water and of the ground.

AMRAANALISI E MONITORAGGIO DEL RISCHIO AMBIENTALEThe Centre’s mission consists in thetransfer of new technology for thereduction of environmental risk fromresearch to businesses.

AMRA includes a network of 12 hightechnology laboratories operating inseveral fields: industrial accidents, seismicengineering, seismic early warning,geotechnical engineering, undergroundprospecting with geophysical methods,

water and ground pollution. These facilitieshave unique characteristics at nationallevel, and some also at European level, andcan represent one of the driving force forthe local economy, both creating valueadded and attracting foreigner investments.

AMRA carries out various activities for thedevelopment of new technologies incollaboration with numerous privatecompanies all over the national territory.

Campania Research System is an integrated model of knowledge and services, which both generate technological transfer and increase the global level of competitiveness of the area.

It operates within economic and social activities to develop and to create value for the territory.

BIOTEKNETBIOTECNOLOGIE INDUSTRIALIBioTekNet involves both structures withscientific and technical competencesand structures with managerial andadministrative skills.

The Centre operates in the field ofindustrial biotechnology and focuses onthe development of new biotechnologicalproduction processes and technologies,which utilize biological organisms or theircomponents, especially: new fermentation

technologies, innovative biosensors,biosystems for water purification, advancedbiological applications for food industry.

Further aims are the constitution of apole providing services and structureswhere scientific competences converge,the transfer of know-how to industrialtechnicians and to junior researchers andthe production of energy from biomassesas strategic field of the next years.

DFMDIAGNOSTICA E FARMACEUTICA MOLECOLARIDFM’s mission is the developmentand the technological transfer of theapplied research results in the field ofdegenerative pathologies, infectiousdiseases and cardiovascular diseases.

The structures, instruments and humancompetences have allowed to register20 licences, of which 12 realized withindustrial partners. Through the transfer

of competences and technologies DFMaims at local and international areas.

The creation of a biotechnologicalindustrial pole enables the competencesabsorption from the related scientificresearch, the development and theinternationalization of its outputs alsothrough collaboration with foreignacademic and manufacturing bodies.

GEARRICERCA APPLICATA PER LA GENOMICAGEAR promotes the development ofapplied research in human healthcare,facilitating the transfer of results andsupporting industrial development inthe fields of structural and functionalgenomics.

Highly qualified consultancy and servicesare offered for the development ofinnovative products and processes to

public and private enterprises.

Its main competitive advantages are theexcellent scientific quality of its activities,to be found in a high number of scientificcollaborations and in national andinternational scientific projects, and thedirect connection with the clinical area,in which for long time R&D activitieshave been developed by GEAR.

ICTTECNOLOGIE DELL’INFORMAZIONE E DELLA COMUNICAZIONEThe Centre’s mission is to satisfythe regional and national productivenetwork’s demand for medium andlong term advanced research in theICT sector.

Its work is geared towards thetechnological transfer of attained resultsand the creation of new productive entitiesthrough spin-offs or the establishment of

specific businesses. The Centre resourcesand competences are related to twoDepartments and eight Poles.

The Departments and the Poles aim atguaranteeing the structural concentrationand the managerial coordination of theresearch institutions, building a criticalmass of competences and technologicaland human resources.

INNOVASVILUPPARE E TRASFERIRE SOLUZIONI TECNOLOGICHE PER IL SETTORE DEI BENI CULTURALI E AMBIENTALIINNOVA’s activities are focused onthree macro-areas of the culturaland environmental heritage sector:diagnostics, conservation and renewal,promotion and use.

INNOVA aims at creating an integratedand stable link between innovation supplyand demand, through an approach basedon the overcome of single academic

individualities, the continuous scientificmodernisation and the technology transfer.Local bodies, superintendence, museums,parks are the main beneficiaries.

INNOVA’s strength lies in the network of skillsin the field of applied research, in the highquality of its outputs, in the supply ofintegrated services systems, in the wide rangeof applications of its products and services.

PRODALPRODOTTI AGROALIMENTARIProdAl’s activities are based on specificservices for laboratory analysis,engineering and development of prototypesolutions related to all phases of primaryproduction, treatment, conservation anddistribution of food products.

ProdAl adresses its action to all actors,who are directly or indirectly linked to theagricultural and food-field.

Its supply includes the applied research inthe field of animal and vegetable rawmaterials qualification, identifying anddeveloping innovative techniques toimprove food transformation processes,high-tech technologies and processes ofconservation, systems for recovery andvalorisation of waste, food packaging andtraining course for enterprises and PublicAdministration.

TEST(TECHNOLOGY ENVIRONMENT SAFETY TRANSPORT)TEST experiments, in real and virtualsettings, the functionality of vehiclesand their components, of infrastructurenetworks and of propulsion servicesand systems with a low environmentalimpact.

Through the collaboration with aerospaceand ICT industry, and in tightened synergywith the local enterprises system, TESTactivity is focused on two processes: the

innovation in the production of overland,railway, aerial and marine vehicles, andthe innovation in the management ofinfrastructure and services related totransportation.

TEST activities cover both domestic andinternational markets, fostered by acontinuous cooperation with national andinternational bodies in the fields of appliedresearch and advanced services.

TECNOLOGIENUOVE TECNOLOGIE PER LE ATTIVITÀ PRODUTTIVEThe Regional Competence CentreTechnology carries out research,development and transfer ofinnovative technological solutionswithin strategic areas for SME (Smalland Medium Enterprises) withinCampania’s manufacturing network.

The added value of the Centre is to berecognised in the highly innovative qualityof its solutions related to: polymers,

composites and biomaterials; advancedcomponents, devices and sensors;modelling, planning and testing of industrialapplications; industrial engineering; energysystems integration; automation andcontrol of production processes.

In particular, the Centre has plannedactions in the fields of advanced materialsfor textile, shoe, biomaterial, aeronauticaland electronic section.
