Intelligent lighting systems by HG-Lights® are equipped with a photocatalytically
active functional coating of titanium dioxide (TiO2).
The innovative coating is able to activate atmospheric oxygen and to
decompose therefore extremely effective viruses, germs and bacteria but also
unpleasant odors in the air.
HG-Lights® are safe, tested and certified by

The titanium dioxide used in TitanProtect® and HG Lights® products (TiO2) is
photocatalytically active. This means that the coating is able to separate
reactive oxygen molecules from the ambient air.
These oxygen molecules decompose all organic compounds such as viruses,
germs and bacteria, but also solids such as fats and oils or cigarette smoke,
unwanted or dangerous gases
(usual odors, formaldehyde and other VOCs *).
The chemists call this oxidation or
cold combustion.

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is absolutely safe for humans, animals and the
environment, despite its photocatalytic properties. The material is mainly used
as a white pigment in the paint production but also in cosmetics and as UV-
protection.
TitanProtect® coatings are completely odorless and transparent.
Thus, the appearance of coated
surfaces is in no way affected.

The prerequisite for
photocatalysis is light.
The natural daylight is here just
as usable as the light spectrum
of modern LED lights.

lamp surfaces,
because there is of course the
largest light energy for
photocatalysis available.
As "decomposition products" remain
only minimal amounts of CO2 and H2O.

One with TitanProtect® coated
HG-Lights® lamp (LED-Flatlight 60 x 60cm,
5000 lumens) converts in 75 minutes
the smoke of a cigarette (23 mg organic
material) completely into carbon dioxide,
water and harmless nitrates.

SBS – The „Sick Building Syndrome“
The Air for breathing - so important but often so polluted. In many areas gas emissions
from building materials or furnishings and unpleasant odors disturb the well-being of
people quite massive.
Diseases such as the "Sick Building Syndrome", the so-called "building-related illness“,
often lead to massive health problems and high costs.
Viruses and germs are transmitted in addition to the direct
contact, not uncommonly, in the form of tiny droplets
through the air. Molds, fine dust from printers and copiers
and emissions from building materials can cause
allergies or asthma.

The invisible danger - multidrug-resistant bacteria (MRSA)
According to the German Society for Hospital Hygiene each year up to one million people
contact with dangerous germs exclusively in German hospitals.
Up-to-date the number of deaths due to infections is 40,000. That is almost eight times
more than on the road! The number of patients with a MRSA infection related to a
medical treatment is approximately 14,000.
HG-Lights® clean the air of harmful viruses
and germs. Independent tests and certificates
confirm among other things the sustainable

In buses, trains and airplanes, every day many people come together at close
quarters. Thus, the transmission of germs through the ambient air is inevitable.
Even air conditioning systems contribute to that.

The coating of lamp surfaces makes high demands on the attachment system
and the processing of coating products because surfaces such as
PMMA and polycarbonate are very hydrophobic and must be appropriately
prepared for a durable coating.
For networking, drying and hardening of this special coating systems
different integral process steps with
IR and UV radiation are required.
