DEVILDRIVER SEVENTH ‘CHAP-TER’ OF FULL-LENGTH DOCUMEN-TARY POSTED ONLINE.Filmmaker Daniel J. Burke (a.k.a. Eight years in the making, the documentary — en-titled “You May Know Us From The Stage” — focuses on “one of the hardest-working bands” as it “spends its time on and off stage,” according to Burke.

“Sometimes, things don’t go the way they’d want, but most of the time, DEVILDRIVER grabs hold of the reins and leads the charge.”

reason I was there. I couldn’t believe these guys were going to play in P.G.! These guys are the real deal. I’m talking full-on face paint, satanic ritual reference, and the whole bit! The band is made up of Dragon: Guitar/Vocals, and Incubus: Drums. Despite the fact that there are only two of them their sound is phenomenal. Dragon keeps everything full sound-ing with consistent and very technical guitar playing, and his vocals are powerful to say the least. Incubus’s drumming is fast and flawless. It was incredible to see this guy decimate that drum kit right in front of me. I wasn’t the only one there completely captivated by these guys. The mosh pit basically stopped and the entire front row carefully studied what was going on on the stage. I can confidently say this was the most amazing act I had ever seen at Third. To me this was a real treat, and I was not disappointed!

As I was leaving I picked up the Gyibaaw/Mitochon-drion split “Rituals of Transcedence - Liimk Halaayt” released by Siege Engine Records. It features an instrumental collaboration by both bands that is definite-ly worth checking out! I guess I can say that this was one of those shows I will never forget. I found myself replaying it over and over again in my head as I stumbled home. I want to say thanks to the Gyibaaw crew for bringing in Inquisition and Mitochondrion. That shit was RAW! Next time a tour like this rolls through town check it out!

INQUISITION & GYIBAAW Attack Prince George

“Hey! Where’s my rock? Which one of you was gonna pay me for that rock?” We both looked over at a rather unpleasant hooker as she charged over to us. When she got closer she realized we were not her last dead beat trick, saying “Oh wait, not you guys”. For the first time in my life I was actually speechless; the last time I checked I was here for a black metal show, not crack and low budget hookers. My friend Earl and I just looked at each other and laughed. We had many reasons to be hap-py: We had just seen Vale of Hinnom play, and Gyibaaw, Mitochondrion, and the all mighty Inquisition were all playing in the very near future. Some shows just demand a good level of inebriation, and for a show like this I was glad to oblige. After all, there was no way I was going to forget a musical pummelling like this one. The fact that it was at Third just multiplied the intensity. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: LONG LIVE THIRD! So, needless to say: I was having a damn good time!

After our very interesting encounter with the rock-less hooker we wandered back into the venue just as Mitochondrion from Vancouver started to play. They are presently made up of two guitar players and a drummer. They pulled out some great riffs, and their playing at times reminded me of Neurosis -- spacey and atmospheric. Don’t get me wrong though, they fit into this show perfect as they also peppered their songs with a lot of fast and brutal playing,

and devastating vocals. If I had to describe them it would be more like “Black Death” Metal (whatever the hell that is). I have heard many good things about these guys and I was glad to finally see them play. I hope they come back soon!

As Gyibaaw took the stage you could feel the anticipation in the crowd. It was time to be aurally assaulted by the most evil band to ever come out of Prince George, and that was just the way we like it. These guys are as Black as Black Metal gets and they are also one of the more experienced bands from P.G. as well. I mean shit; they have fucking toured South America! So yeah, talk to me about dedication after your band gets back from another county over 6000 miles away. Anyway back to the show: These guys play hard and fast keeping the true spirit of black metal alive! The highlight of their set was when they invited Julian from Primal Stance to come up and provide vocals for the final song. The bro-down love was in full effect. For those of you out there with a more extreme taste in music this is the band for you!

DEVILDRIVER SEVENTH ‘CHAP-TER’ OF FULL-LENGTH DOCUMEN-TARY POSTED ONLINE.Filmmaker Daniel J. Burke (a.k.a.
