THE In In side Edition side Edition As we begin the New Year, I would like to send a special thanks to all of those that made 2005 so successful for GBM: Thanks to all of the cleaners that work at night in our customers’ buildings…..without you, there would be no GBM! Thanks to all of the supervisors that have the responsibility of making sure that all of the work is done to our customers’ standards…..without you, there would be no GBM! Thanks to the entire GBM management team and subcontractors…..without you, there would be no GBM! Thanks to all of our customers for letting GBM be their service provider….. without you, there would be no GBM! And most of all I would like to thank Sunny Park…..without him, GBM would have never been! Twenty six years ago, when I first became a janitor cleaning a small office build- ing, I learned early on that if I do a good job I can clean there forever, but if I do a bad job, someone else will be cleaning my building. I still feel the same way today as I am still that same janitor and I will continue to be the same janitor until they put me out to pasture. With all my travels, people always ask what I do for a living and I always respond by saying, " I am a janitor!" Boy! talk about the looks I get sometimes when peo- ple hear my answer. The next thing out of their mouth is "Well you don't look like a janitor!" So, what is a janitor supposed to look like? They are still human beings like all of us. They have to put clothes on just like we do and they, hopefully, eat three meals a day just like most of us. Yet, mention the word ‘janitor’ and people's expression changes. Can you imagine if there were no janitors to clean up after everyone? Think About It!!!!! So, from one janitor to all of you other janitors out there "THANK YOU" and may 2006 be another good year for GBM. GBM’s Sunny Park Hosts Good Neighboring Day at Youth Academy

On January 17th, GBM Chairman and CEO Sunny Park met with cadets and students of Fort Gordon Youth ChallengeAcademy for its Good Neighboring Day. Speakers included ColonelFrank Williams, State Director of Youth Programs, Mr. Sunny Park,Georgia National Guard’s General Adjutant General David Poythress,Janet A. Zimmerman, Director of Youth Challenge Academy and spe-cial Guest Speaker, Commanding General Russell Honore of theUnited States Army.

General Honore commands the 1st Army, based at Fort Gillem inForest Park, Georgia, outside Atlanta. A three-star General, lastSeptember, he headed the deployment of an estimated 1,000 troops forthe humanitarian efforts in New Orleans during the Hurricane Katrinaaftermath.

Good Neighboring Day is a program that was started by Mr. Park as away to help the many fine cadets of Youth Challenge Programs (YCP)as well as high school students gain knowledge and insight into Korean culture and history. Mr. Parks’ Good

Neighboring Campaign conducted the first Good Neighboring Day atthe Georgia Youth Challenge Academy on October 11, 2000, with theoverwhelming support of the Adjutant General David Poythress andhis wife Elizabeth Poythress, Colonel Frank William, and Ms.Charlene Anderson of the Adjutant General’s staff.

Along with an understanding of the competitiveness of the Koreanpeople, the Program challenges young Americans by alerting them tothe competition they will face not only at home but abroad. Also, bylearning background information about a small country’s success sto-ries and about foreign cultures, cadets receive an educational experi-ence that will enhance their lives for years to come.

GNDay program has operated in several National Guard’s YCP loca-tions, including Hinesville (Fort Stewart), Ga.; Augusta (Fort Gordon),Ga.; West Point, N.Y.; Trenton (Fort Dix), N.J.; Shreveport (Camp

Minden), La.; Phoenix (Queens Creek), Ariz.; and Virginia Beach (Camp Pendleton), Va., and is expanding toother states with the enthusiastic support of Mr. Joe Padilla, the national chief of the Youth Challenge Program.

By Eric Morton, GBM Richmond Operations Manager

When I started with GBM in 2001, we had numerous day porters that hadalready been with GBM for a couple of years or so. I want to take time torecognize one of these employees, Franklin Rogers.

Franklin Rogers started out working for us at Sixth Street Marketplace, astaple for downtown Richmonders for years. Eventhough much of themarketplace was torn down, minus the foodcourt, I could see Franklin stilldeserved recognition for his hard work; we had just aqquired One CapitalSquare, and were in need of a daytime porter/maintenence person. I imme-diately thought of Franklin for the position because of his dedication to hisjob. Since then, I’ve never regretted the decision. Anytime Franklin isasked to work a weekend, or overtime he smiles and says, “Yes.”

Franklin is one of our best employees, and I want to thank him personallyfor all of his help and dedication to his job.
