Message from the DeanEvery year I am impressed by the talent and dedication of our EMBA’s. These women and men are very successful in what they do, yet they are hungry and curious to learn more about the world, more about business and more about themselves. Why do these successful men and women pursue an EMBA at IMD? They do it to fulfill their career potential, to continue their personal growth and to learn how to become a more reflective leader with increased self-awareness.

Given their professional and leadership experience, they often know what they don’t know. Most actually realize that they don’t know what they don’t know. They embrace on this journey with certain expectations, hopes, dreams and anxieties. When we ask them towards the end of the program whether their expectations were met, the most rewarding response is: “Yes, I think so. But more importantly, I realize that my expectations prioritized the wrong dimensions. I wanted to become smarter, to know more, to present better, to network with peers. What really matters now is that I became a more reflective leader, a better listener, a more confident team player as well as someone who can connect the dots and who is even more curious than before to better understand what is going on.”

Committing time and money for an EMBA learning journey is a big decision. But it should never be perceived as one more thing on the checklist, one more hurdle to overcome, another validation of personal skills and determination.
