![Page 24: The Hot seat](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022012911/568160fa550346895dd036f1/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
In England, a long long time ago, there was a horrible giant. When men would come to fight the giant, the giant would always have a riddle for them: “What do women want most?” he would ask. Of course, the men never knew the answer, and so the giant would always kill them immediately.
The people asked King Arthur for help. The King asked all his friends for the answer to the riddle, but nobody knew. One day, King Arthur met a horrible, ugly old woman. “I know the answer to the giant’s riddle,” she said. “Please tell me, old woman!” King Arthur said. “Only if you find me a nice, young, handsome husband,” the old woman said. “Oh gosh,” King Arthur said. Fortunately, his friend, Sir Galahad, was a very nice and selfless man, and he agreed to marry the old woman to help the people of England. Finally, the old woman told King Arthur the answer.
King Arthur went to the giant’s home. The giant asked him: “What do women want most?” and King Arthur said, “Their autonomy.” The giant was shocked, and King Arthur immediately killed him. Sir Galahad and the old ugly woman got married. On their wedding night, the old ugly woman turned into a beautiful woman! Sir Galahad was very surprised. “It’s a magic spell,” the woman said. “You can choose: I can be ugly during the day and beautiful at night, or I can be beautiful during the day and ugly at night.” Sir Galahad said, “Oh, I can’t decide. You should choose.” “Why, you gave me my autonomy!” the woman said. “Now the spell is broken, and I will be beautiful during the day and at night, too.”
And they lived happily ever after.

Assessment
• Now that we’ve practiced writing essays, let’s look at how they’re assessed and graded!
• How can we keep our writing evaluations consistent?– What if more than one person is grading essays?

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and how would you use it?
If I had any superpower, it would be fire or ice magic. I love magics and supernatural things cuz I read too much mangas. Mangas are japanese comics. Fire is a very powerful element. So is ice. With fire you can protect yourself by making a cloak of fire. And I will use it to fly too. Or just make my punches even more powerfull. So if I had fire as my super power, it would be hot. Ice is a very cool magic. I would use it with a lot of insperation cuz with it you can make ice sculptures. And it helps you express your emotion and passion of what you feel. Well, I would use it to express my feelings too. These powers are very useful to others too. If there is a forest fire you could just absorb or eat the fire. I would say, if there are people who needs me I will go to them right away. These stuffs might be boring or silly, but for me this is my way of thinking and my pride of imagination. I guess the reason of these things are my childhood dreams.

Now Let’s Practice!
• Using this rubric, get into pairs and grade some of your essays!– Is this easy or difficult?– Is it hard to agree on one grade for each category?– Would you use a different rubric? What would you
change?
