Definition of “Selfie”

A self-portrait picture that is usually taken by a hand-held smart phone, camera, or tablet device.

Directions to Play: 1. Shuffle the cards and place in a pile.

2. The student choses 1 card at a time.

3. The child looks at the holiday “selfie” and reads the beginning words of the sentence.

4. Using age appropriate lined paper, he/she finishes the sentence using the starting words provided.

Assembly: Print and cut out each of the cards (white & grey

versions included).

Laminate or print on cardstock for durability.

Print lined paper (each player needs own paper).

Various lined paper attached (white & grey smart phone/tablet versions included) or use your own paper.

Sentence Starter Game! The Holiday “Selfie”

Ages: School Age

Number of Players: A child can play individually or 2-4 children can play

simultaneously.

Variations: After viewing the card the child may verbalize the end of the sentence. An adult can

print this for the child to copy.

After viewing the card the child may verbalize the end of the sentence. An adult can print one key word from the child's statement for the child to copy.

The child can verbalize and/or print or copy the names of the holiday characters who are in the “selfie”.

Print the game cards twice. Cut them out and use the cards to play concentration or memory game. All the cards are laid face down on surface, and 2 cards are flipped over each turn. If two pairs of matching cards are flipped, then the students writes the sentence.
