GIS in Encinitas is used in the following ways by City staff
• To help with project reviews and plan checks
• To assist with cost estimates and grant proposals for future city projects • To work with customers at the front counter • To assist with city projects, such as master plan updates • To investigate complaints and service requests from the public • To track work done and proactively maintain city assets and infrastructure • To assist development applicants at Staff Advisory Committee SAC meetings

• To look up zoning information
• To report problems to the City (potholes, grafitti, etc.)

Willingness of staff to be more involved in the applications they use
‘Technical’ liaison / business analyst in every Department Division
More informed and proactive upper management support Assistance from Departments in the form of funding or resources Departmental ownership for projects they’d like to see implemented Better collaboration/communication (keeping us in the loop) Enforcement of our role as ‘data experts’ An understanding that applications require consistent support and maintenance (e.g. resources)
More emphasis and time spent on data quality
