THE HISTORY OF AIR COMPRESSOR SYSTEMS The history of air compressor systems is as old as the age of the demand for compressed and pressurised air. Pressurised air has been used in many industries for different applications for many years. The need for compressed air resulted to invention of air compressor systems. The systems are presently popular in manufacturing and construction industries where pneumatic components are used to cool compressed air for industrial purposes. However, it is worth mentioning that the initial air compressor systems were less diversified and did not serve many purposes. This is because the pneumatic components used were less effective. Although there is no accurate account on the history of air compressors, they are believed to be as old as the civilization of man. However, the olden compressors were designed using the human lung functioning mechanism about 3000 B.C. As the demand for stronger air compressors increased, effective pneumatic components had to be invented to sustain the increasing demands. A more advanced air compressor system was invented in the 1500 B.C and named bellows. The device was initially operated using hands and later it advanced to be controlled by foot. This compressor had biggerpneumatic components and produced highly compressed air suitable for producing high-temperature industrial fires. Several years later, an engineer called Smeaton was able to design advanced air compressors that were controlled using water wheels. This was a major step in the history of air compressor systems. Although Smeaton air compressor was effective than bellows, it was later replaced by the blasting machine air compressor designed in 1776 by Wilkinson. This was more advanced that the past versions and it is believed to be the archetype of later air compressor systems. It is worth noting that air compressors were used for many purposes in the olden days ranging from, metalworking, underground ventilation, mining and fabrication of metals among others. For instance, air compressor systems played a great role during the construction of the France- Italy rail system in 1857. Later on, demand for compressed air increased and more advanced pneumatic components were invented to increase the production of compressed air. As human being invented new ways to use compressed air, demand for air compressor systems increased and the technology spread to many parts of the world. In the 1800, man was using air compressor for energy transmission. Engineer Viktor made a very positive move after he designed an air compressor in Paris that produced 18000Kw. This was followed by numerous innovations in the early 20 th century, and more improved pneumatic components were equally designed to meet the increasing demands for air compressor systems. Presently, the demand for air compressors is overwhelming and more sophisticated air compressor systems have been invented. You can find customised air compressor systems for all industrial needs in almost all parts of the world. For more information, please visit our website . THE HISTORY OF AIR COMPRESSOR SYSTEMS

The history of air compressor systems is as old as the age of the demand for compressed and pressurised air. Pressurised air has been used in many industries for different applications for many years. The need for compressed air resulted to invention of air compressor systems. The systems are presently popular in manufacturing and construction industries where pneumatic components are used to cool compressed air for industrial purposes.

However, it is worth mentioning that the initial air compressor systems were less diversifiedand did not serve many purposes.

Several years later, an engineer called Smeaton was able to design advanced air compressors thatwere controlled using water wheels.

This was followed by numerous innovations in the early 20th century, and more improved pneumatic components were equally designed to meet the increasing demands for air compressor systems.

Presently, the demand for air compressors is overwhelming and more sophisticated air compressor systems have been invented. You can find customised air compressor systems for all industrial needs in almost all parts of the world.
