Save the date! Cinco de
Mayo: 5.5.17, also known as
Friday, May 5th 2017. The
date night festivities go from
6-8:30 p.m.
THE FOOD!
The Hernandez family will prepare for us delicious, authentic Mexican food for you to enjoy: Carne or Pollo Asada, Mexican rice, black beans and all the trimmings for the Asada, and dessert, of course; for drinks we have fruit drinks and iced tea. Move over Azteca!
THE
ENTERTAINMENT!
Pastor Tim will lead us in a good old fashioned Highline version of “The Newlywed Game.” We will have couples with different durations of marital bliss competing on the platform. AND we all get to play along at our tables with our spouses as well!
THE WORD!
So much for the food, and the entertainment! Pastor (Tim) Knight will then hand it off to Pastor (Mark) Knight. Pastor Mark will bring a message that will challenge us to deepen and strengthen our marriages.
Our cover charge is $30 per
couple: it covers the food
(which will be fun), the
couples talk (which will be
fun), the fun (which will also
be fun), and don’t be
surprised if we have a
parting gift for everyone and
a way to keep much of this
night alive through the
year! All in all, it should be a
night to remember!

“The Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
Romans 8:26
The Power of Prayer. Since our nation’s very first days, God’s greatest movements in our midst have been fashioned and sustained by prayer, from the signing of our earliest documents, to our triumphs over days of darkness, to the spiritual awakenings that have sustained our faith and resolve over the centuries. Throughout Scripture and throughout our history as a nation, persistent, prevailing, intentional, and never-ending prayer has always brought the presence of God.
How vast are the possibilities when we pray! Prayer is a wonderful power placed by the almighty God into the hands of His saints. When we humbly seek His face in prayer, He is moved to act on our behalf and accomplish His desires for us.
And when we seek God in prayer for our leaders, we impact the very direction our nation will take (Franklin Graham).
For this reason, we must pray fervently. We continue to pray every Monday evening from 6:30-7:30 pm, the South building in room 201. PLEASE NOTE: WE WILL NOT MEET on April 10th so we can attend the movie “Facing Darkness.” For any questions call Connie Egger or Cathy Womach. You are more than welcome to join us.
Prayer for Our Nation
Award Winning Movie Event
Announcing an award winning premiere movie event: Facing Darkness. Samaritan’s Purse features this film being shown Monday, April 10th at 7:00 pm. This story of faith is about saving Dr. Brantly from Ebola in Africa where he was volunteering as a doctor. It is an incredible true story of faith, determination and prayer about how God performed a miracle. See the movie at Southcenter 16 inside the mall, 633 South Center Parkway in Tukwila. Other theatres showing this film on the same night are in Federal Way, Auburn, and Bellevue.

World Outreach News HIV/AIDS in South Africa
Touching the World
with Hope
• 6.3 million infected
• 3.5 million women infected
• 360,000 children infected
• 200,000 deaths due to AIDS
• 2.4 million orphans from AIDS
*Source: UNAIDS 2013 statistics
Prevention Time is a 501(c)3 based in Federal Way supporting AIDS prevention and youth development in South Africa, using Biblica's Reach4Life New Testament© which contains 42 Bible lessons. The focus is in South Africa, the country with the highest number of HIV infected people in the world. Work is being done in three areas - urban Soweto (suburb of Johannesburg), rural KwaZulu-Natal, and in Durban and surrounding villages. The goal is for the next generation to avoid catching the virus before they get infected. This is dependent on behavior change, which is only possible through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Prevention Time works solely with the indigenous people who know the language and culture and are already a part of the community. Young Christian adults (Peer Educators, or young people
teaching young people) from local churches are selected and trained to teach how to avoid the virus and encourage commitment to Christ. Work takes place in schools, community groups, and prisons, with new believers invited into local churches. Thandeka Mavundla, program director, coordinates with tribal and community leaders, headmasters, and prison officials. The Dept of Education in Johannesburg and the mayor of Durban have asked for the program to be taught in all of their schools. (How many are reached depends on funding.)
Prevention Time is an all-volunteer organization so all funds raised are applied to supporting the indigenous workers and purchasing Reach4Life New Testaments. The number of schools served is dependent on funding with priority given to areas of high HIV/AIDS infection. In 2014, over 16,000 youth were reached with one or more of the Reach4Life classes.

Defending Our Trust in the Bible
We have all encountered moments, where we need facts to validate the accuracy, or truth of our belief in the Holy Bible. This type of encounter is usually with a friend, neighbor, relative, or co-worker, and we may feel that we have an inadequate answer.
Scripture tells us "to be prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is within you....." (See 1Peter 3:15).
We have compiled "4 Compelling Reasons to Trust the Bible" (these are some basics, and there are many more). "The reasons" are printed on orange card stock, sized to fit in your Bible, and you may feel free to take a copy from the chair Bible, or they are also available at the Welcome Center.
May God bless all your efforts!
HIV/AIDS in South Africa (continued from page 5)
Ministry Outcomes:
Evangelism – spiritual lives are saved
Humanitarian – physical lives are saved (from AIDS)
Bible distribution – New Testaments are distributed in schools
Follow up for new believers –provided by local churches
Building up of churches – through the influx of new believers
Uplifting of young Christian adults – Peer Educators learn skills that help them find employment in an area of 70-85% unemployment rate
Improvement in school pass rates – kids are encouraged to do well
Decrease in pregnancy rates - from teaching kids God's ways
Males learn to respect females in a male-dominated society
Ripple effect – saving one person from infection also saves those that would have become infected through him/her, and the gospel message is passed on to others

Operation Christmas Child Update
We have received notice that some of the Operation Christmas Child boxes sent from Highline have been shipped to the Ukraine and to "Hard To Reach Areas". For the safety of those ministering in these restricted areas, Operation Christmas Child cannot tell us the name of the country(ies) where the boxes were sent. Many children who live in nations that are difficult to reach with the Gospel are able to hear about Jesus Christ through specially packed shoebox gifts designated for restricted areas. In "Hard-To-Reach Areas", these shoeboxes provide a platform for local believers to share Christ in a safe and culturally sensitive way. If you have received notice of another country in which your box was sent, I'd love to hear where it went! Please e-mail me (Tammie Lindblom) at [email protected] and let me know.
Also, the below article was written by Paul Moreland, one of Highline's missionaries to Columbia. Grab a Kleenex tissue, read the story below, and rejoice in the great God we serve who knows EXACTLY which box needs to go to EXACTLY which child!!
"Recently, we had a children's party as part of Operation Christmas Child which is part of the Samaritan's Purse Ministry. We partnered with the local representatives of "Operacion Nino de Navidad" (the Spanish version of Operation Christmas Child) to take the gospel to the neighborhood where one of the families from our congregation live.
We had some 20 kids and a few youth and adult helpers. A good time was had by all. We had a time of games and activities then a Bible story taken from the OCC manual and finally handed out the shoeboxes that were packed with much love and prayer in the U.S. We've seen some of our supporting congregations publicizing their Operation Christmas Child events for collecting boxes so we were curious as to where these boxes had come from A couple of them contained notes and both were from Ohio. What a joy to see the kid's eyes light up at the contents of their boxes! One thing caught my attention, however. We'd seen cars, dolls, stuffed animals, socks, toothbrushes, etc. But one kid came up waving a hammer. A hammer? Yes, a small tack hammer. I thought, "Huh? Who sends a hammer to a 12 year old boy?" But it turned out that there were some crafts in the box as well, crafts that require the use of a hammer to assemble. Oh. Ok. But then we got to talk with his folks. It turns out that this kid loves to make things. And

that's when it clicked. We had NO idea what was in any but a few plastic boxes that were clear and some of their contents were visible. But SomeONE knew as a family up in the US of A was picking out gifts that there was a kid that would get a charge out of something simple as a hammer. And that box made its way across the North American continent to a container that was shipped to the South American continent, went through Customs, was trucked to our city, stacked along with the thousands of other boxes, counted out along with all the other boxes that were handed to us as our part of of the ministry, picked up and placed into the hands of that particular young man who APPRECIATED the gift more than one could imagine. Nope. I don't believe in random "coincidences", not at all."
Continuous Confession By Lowell Hall
What are the natural steps in becoming a Christian? You Hear the Gospel concerning Jesus. You Believe He is God’s Son. Then you are motivated to Repent, and to turn away from your “Old Way of Life” and ask God for forgiveness of your past sins. These three steps of actions you have to accomplish yourself. The fourth step of “confession” requires outward action. This involves more than what takes place within one’s self.
At the conclusion of Pastor Tim’s sermon, he offers an invitation for those who want to establish a “Saving Relationship” with God and Jesus, you are invited to come forward and take that next step, “Confession.” For some people it takes a lot of courage to
step out, come forward, and stand in front of the congregation. Some people would feel more comfortable if somebody were standing with them. Any Christian would be happy to come and stand with you. You will be asked by Pastor Tim to “confess” your belief and commitment to God. He will ask you to repeat after him, “I believe that Jesus is the Christ,
(continued on page 9)
Page 9 Highline eConnection
Continuous Confession (continued from page 8)
the Son of the living God, and I accept Him as my Lord and Savior.” In this way, you have publicly acknowledged your acceptance and commitment to God through Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 10:9; “for everyone who calls on the name of the lord, will be saved.”
Only one more step needs to be taken in proclaiming and receiving your “Salvation in God’s Great Salvation Way of Life.” This final step is to be Baptized. “Baptism” is the topic for the May eNewsletter article.
Is the action of confession limited only to individuals who are coming to God? Or is it an action to be considered by those living the “Christian Way of Life?”
The word “confession” is found in many verses in the New Testament. In many cases a synonym for the word confession is used, such as proclaim, declare, preach, confirm, profess, etc. A good example of this is found in Matthew 28:18-20 which is called “The Great Commission.” Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I will be with you always to the end of this age.” This action involves proclaiming the “Gospel,” The “Good News” concerning Jesus Christ.
Are there occasions in our lives when we need to “confess,” that is “proclaim,” that we believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God and that we have
accepted Him as our Lord and Savior? Of course, our “Way of Life” should declare that we are Christians and that Jesus is our Lord and Savior.
It is not easy for some people to verbalize their commitment and
dedication to Jesus as their Lord and Savior. For many people, it is not easy to put into words their deepest feelings and emotions. Jesus did not call us into an easy, comfortable,
“way of life.” He has called us into a challenging, changing, growing, and joyous “Way of Life.”
As Christians, we can learn to proclaim to others our beliefs, commitments, and dedication to God and to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Your first Confession must not be your last Confession. As Christians, we must continuously confess our dedication and commitment to Jesus as our Lord and Savior. God Bless.
Your first Confession must
not be your last
Confession.

Women in Touch Lives will be changed when we are REAL!
On February 10th and 11th, the women of Highline joined together for “Real Community”: the second women’s conference held at HCC. We experienced God-filled worship, challenging and engaging main sessions, and multiple exciting break out sessions.
When asking women what they thought of the conference, responses ranged from feeling more at home to feeling challenged to take a new step in their walk with Christ. Women felt comforted, welcomed, encouraged, and stretched throughout our time together. Here are some reflections from the weekend: “Our main speaker, Rebecca, was very thought provoking. She emphasized the importance of women in our church acting intentionally to encourage relationships that can join us into family, or as she taught, community.” -Gayle Wylie

“It was so nice to be able to come to a building that I am familiar with and just be able to take off all the roles I play (not a chef, not a taxi cab, not a maid, not a referee, etc) - just a chance to breathe and be ME. My BIG GIANT take away was the reminder to stay in my own lane. God makes us all so unique and different.” -Becky Stampalia “I know I am exactly where God needs me to be” -Anonymous It is amazing to see the lasting effects this conference had on women, their friends, and their family We are so thankful to every woman that came, everyone that helped make this conference happen, and for all your feedback. See you at our next conference!
