PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Welcome Summer! As summer approaches, I find myself gearing up for the holiday season again, and what better way to start then with the wonderful fall piece taught by Donna Carpenter. It has been a while since Donna has gifted us with her talent, and I can say with certainty, she is a gifted teacher and artist. The day went smooth-ly and most everyone completed their piece or came close to it. Thank you Donna! Also, remember Donna has the ONLY remaining tole shop in San Die-go. Let’s keep her going and drop in to Art Creations in El Cajon and see what she has. She is willing to order for you, so remember her when you are looking for something. I want to thank Charlotte for her efforts in getting members to place items in the fair this year. She shared the chapter awards we gave at the paint in. My goal is to double the amount placed next year. Remember, anything placed is “good enough”! People have said their pieces aren’t “good enough”. If you paint, it is good enough! Our goal is to promote decorative painting and this is a great way to do it. We had a board meeting this month and the board spent a lot of discussion on the future of our chapter as it pertains to funds. As you know, raffles are the major fundraiser for any chapter and one of the most difficult jobs. Several times a year we have large raffles, mystery paint in, Ways and Means and the Christmas party . Even though these are well attended and make money, the monthly raffles also provided much needed income. Currently we don’t have regular raffles and the board has moved forward with several ideas to stream-line raffles and bring in revenue. We decided to only have raffles in high at-tendance classes, so July and October there will be raffles. So please consider-ing donating items for the raffle. WE DO NOT NEED BASKETS of stuff. If you have extra paints, a paint surface you may not use, gift cards, just bring them, everything helps. But there are other ways money comes into chapter and that is each month. This is regular money that helps run chapter. Currently, chapter gets $2 per student per class. After discussion, the board voted to increase the class costs to $28 to increase the chapter deposit to $5 per student. This extra money helps the costs of Mystery Paint-in, the Christmas party, general supplies we need, such as paper products and coffee. Many other chapters are choosing this option too as membership changes and funds dwindle. This change will take affect for the 2019 calendar year. Just a reminder, in October we are collecting paper products, shampoos, clean-ing supplies for the parks “coach bound” residents. Please consider bringing in something each time you come to paint, we will store it. And finally, I would like to give a Shout Out to Charlotte for all her hard work she puts into our chapter. She is willing to step up even in her busy schedule. Thank you Charlotte!

NEWS from 1st Vice Presidents (Programs) June Class: How versatile was this piece? We saw members painting on vertical canvas, round and tall wood pump-kins and horizontal boards. This was Donna’s own design and we must say those pumpkins were vibrant. Oranges, yellows and brilliant violet did the trick. Donna gave us great step by step instruction and most folks were close to completion by the end of class. We stopped for lunch around noon to various main dishes, salads and a variety of desserts. We also got our first peek at the marvelous Ways and Means pro-jects, chaired by Sandy Garcia. Our Marilyn, busy below overseeing our financial books, brought us another vast variety of garage sale items and patterns to purchase during our free time. We are getting spoiled shopping because she brings us such cool things to paint on. Thanks Marilyn for your donated time in doing this. I know the members really appreciate your hard work.
July 14th Class: Feeling Froggy This is a mixed media class. Lori was able to put one kit together which she will bring with her the day of the class (already prepped). Please contact Debi if you are interested in this class, just one opening and such a fabulous piece. We will have raffles available at this paint- in to try your luck at winning something fabulous.
August 11th Class: Chickadees on Birch Trees Project will be on display at the July class. Sandy has it painted on a cutting board for the display (one idea) but this is a versatile piece and it can be expanded longer or taller. The trees can be extended upwards or the pattern can be repeated sideways to make it more horizontal. Add more birds if you like. Pattern sheets available.
September 8th Class: Fuchsia Fun Carol Ganzi who was our surprise teacher at MPI this year is back to teach us beautiful fuchsias coming out of a vase. This is a very colorful flower picture and will give you experience painting this type flowers.

Dear PHP, The San Diego County Fair judges awarded me the First Place (Blended and other) for my entry of my Noah 2 X 2 wooden plate. And then they gave me the Palomar Heritage Painters award. How special to have the award from my home chapter. Thank you so very much for making that honor possible. And I think it was the first time I have ever entered any-thing in the fair. Thanks again, Merle Avery, CDA

People born in July are fun-loving and cheerful. For them family comes first. Protecting their loved ones and maintaining healthy relationships with others is very vital for them. It would break their heart to let go of people they are very closely associated with. However, they can be cyni-cal and at times sarcastic which can be hazardous for their relationships. Though they make a lot of friends, they like to be spend time alone. When it comes to lifestyle or the dressing sense, they can be highly ec-centric and always strive to be perfect. They are very organized and are gifted with exceptional managerial skills which make them good team leaders or managers. Some famous people born in July are Sylvester Stallone, Tom Cruise, George W. Bush, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Nelson Mandela, Natalie Wood, Robin Williams, Jennifer Lopez, Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock, Harrison Ford, Ernest Hemingway, Amelia Earhart, Julius Caesar and Alexander the Great. The zodiac signs related to this month are the sentimental and thoughtful Cancer (June 21-July22), and Leo (July 23-August 22), characterized as dramatic, outgoing, and exciting. July's birthstone is the ruby and is said to inspire courage and success. Many countries have their Independence Day during the month of July. Palomar Heritage Painters Board Meeting Minutes
June 9, 2018
A board meeting of the Palomar Heritage Painters was held on Saturday, June 9, 2018, in the meeting center at San Marcos Mo-bile Home Estates. The meeting was called to order at 7:52 a.m. by President Linda Silvasy. ATTENDANCE: Linda Silvasy, Leslie Pilcher, Marilyn Dixon, Carol Voyles, Debi Stivers, Sandy Garcia, and Linda Camp. PROGRAMS: Vice Presidents, Programs, Carol Voyles and Debi Stivers, provided 2 copies of the "Call for Submissions" letter sent to teachers for the 2019-2020 time frame. Choice #1 was the letter currently used, and choice #2 had proposed changes. Also provided was a list of teachers to be considered, as well as a list of other chapters and the fees they charge. It was pointed out that PHP has the highest class fee of $25 total, with $18 going to the teacher, plus $5 to provide patterns. The additional $2 goes to our Chapter. If a teacher has any additional costs for a particular class, this should be provided to PHP at submission time, so that we know of all costs before voting for classes. There was a discussion to change PHP Class Fees to $28, so that instead of $2 going to Chapter, a total of $5 would go to Chap-ter. Motion was made by Leslie Pilcher to change Class Fee to $28 and select Choice #1 for submission letter, and was approved by all. October Fundraiser Class - The October Fundraiser class being taught by Bobbie Takashima, is being coordinated by Carol Voyles & Debi Stivers; the Class Fee will be $25, and we are hoping for a full class. Net profit for this class will be given to the Chapter, while the net profit from the Christmas Party will be given to the charity of choice. WAYS & MEANS: Sandy Garcia brought in 3 lovely projects for the Ways & Means ticket sales, which will be distributed today or mailed to those PHP members not in attendance. Members need to put their name on all 20 tickets, and return them with pay-ment. Members should designate to which project the tickets are intended. RAFFLES: We still have no full-time Raffle coordinator, but are asking members to bring items in July for the raffles to be held at that month's Paint-In. Meeting was adjourned by Linda Silvasy at 8:33 a.m. Respectfully submitted, Linda Camp, Secretary

Please note a CORRECTION to the 2018-19 PHP Roster. The e-mail address for Rose Ann Linsley was incorrect stated as [email protected] Obviously, there was an “L” in the address that didn’t belong. Please make the correction in your roster. It should be [email protected]. Also, last month’s Membership had a typo in the address of Rama Shotwell. Should read Foothill Ranch, and not Foothill Rance.

Ways and Means Fundraiser 2019
Once again Palomar Heritage Painters begins the process of the MOST important fundraiser of the year, Ways and Means. As a non-profit organization, our only revenue is raffles. Through careful money management and member sup-port, we have managed to stay solvent where some chapters have struggled. It is expected that each member purchase the 20 tickets given at $1 each. This year our drawing will be at the September paint in where three beautiful pieces donated will go to new homes.
. Each chapter member is expected to either purchase 20 tickets which will be given out, or donate to the chapter. You may make a choice as to which items you would like a chance on winning. Tickets will be available during June’s paint in or mailed if not picked up then. More tickets will be available each month. Please be sure to place your name on all your tickets. You may bring tickets to any paint in begin-ning in July or mail them to me with your choices. If you have questions, please let me know. Sandy Garcia 29040 Miller Rd. Combine eggs, milk, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and pepper. Pour egg mixture over vege-tables; top evenly with remaining cheese. Bake at 325*F for 50 to 60 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from oven and let stand 10 minutes before serving.
