HOMESCHOOLER'S DON’T ACTUALLY DO SCHOOL WORK. Not true. We have the same standards as public school and have the same core subjects. Math, we got it, Science, yes, English, yep. The only difference is we get to wake up late and do our school work in our pajamas.

HOMESCHOOLER'S ARE REALLY SHY THEY DON’T HAVE FRIENDS.Not true. Some kids are shy just like at regular school but homeschoolers have just as many friends as anyone else. We may even be less shy because we have to actively seek out friends.

HOMESCHOOLERS ARE REALLY SHELTERED. Not true. People think that because we are home schooled we don’t know what is going on in the world. We are more aware because we are out in the world while others are in class. Another field trip anyone?

MY FIRST TIME ICE SKATINGIce skating is hard. It is hard because there

is no where to practice in San Luis Obispo. We do not have frozen ponds here. There is a

man made ice rink that comes in winter to Atascadero and I went there. It was fun and my Dad helped me to skate around the middle. He held

my hand and pulled me around. We went fast! I did do it by myself by holding on to the side of the rink.

I had a great time.~ Eliana Boothe age 8

IMPROV DRAMA What is improv?

Improv is acting without a script. Some people find this type of theatre very intimidating due to the fact that is on the spot thinking. This was not the case as these students jumped in with both feet and began to swim. With improv they are encouraged to really tap into their creative thinking, imagination and problem solving abilities. One of the most important things that students can do to be

successful is to take risks. People feel comfortable taking risks by building trust within the group itself, something this group had from the very beginning. Working with this great group we were able to focus on not only short form improv games but long forms as well. They put on a fearless and hilarious show using fast thinking and great focus.

What’s in the future... The play The Princess Bride 4-9th and an original piece for the K-4th using multimedia.

The Paper Bag Princess was a fun performance the K-4th grade

students did. By using their bodies they created all the props

that was needed and told a wonderful story with a surprise

ending.

A HAIR MUST... BLOW DRYER BRUSH CURLING IRON SCRUNCHIES

A blow dryer is a good thing to have so your hair does not stay wet if you have to go outside.

You will need a brush to comb through all of the tangles in your hair so it will look nice.

A curling iron is good for making your hair look fancy. It is more fancy than a flat iron, because your hair has curls.

You must have a Scrunch for your hair to keep it back out of your face. Rubber bands will get stuck.

Hovercraft Experiment Air from inside the balloon escapes through the hole in the pop up top and flows out and under the CD. The CD has a flat surface with an even weight. So the airflow flow from the balloon creates a thin layer of air between the surface of the floor and the bottom of the CD. This reduces the amount of friction between the CD and floor and the hovercraft easily floats and glides on the pocket of air.

Dear Too Shy to Ask,I am currently searching for just the right answer for you. However, my assistant’s advice to you would be to just do it! Walk up and say “Hi I see you guys here all the time” and then tell them your name. Next you can ask if you can join in their game. If they say no don’t be discouraged. If they would say no they might not be good friends to have anyway. Michela Henderson age 14

THE CHRONICLES OF

TOM PIG

MUTANT NINJA PIGTom was born in Oklahoma on a farm belonging to the Lincoln's. He was born like any other pig until December the 19th 2008 when his life was changed forever. A comet from planet Shnoopie left it’s own astro belt and was rocketed to earth. It just so happened that Tom was taking his late night mud bath behind the barn when it hit. Tom was slammed so hard by the comet it shattered his front piggy tooth and knocked him unconscious. When he awoke he found that he was not the same pig. He felt stronger, he had more energy, he thought he had even gotten taller. As Tom crawled out of the mud he felt a tingling in his hooves. He jumped up and to his surprise realized he could fly. ..

Dear Miss Ears,I am having a hard time when I go to the park. There is a group of kids that usually go there and I want to play with them. I don’t know them and I am embarrassed to ask to play with them. I don’t want them to think that I don’t have any friends because I have a lot. I just want to meet them and maybe then I will have more. What should I say the next time I see them? Thanks,Too Shy to Ask.

Tips for Taking Care of Your Chickens

1.  The main food for chickens is layer crumbles.  Chickens also enjoy food from your kitchen, which may include: noodles, apple & potato peels, grapes, vegetable cuttings and bread crusts.  For egg shell strength, feed them crushed oyster shell.  Fresh water is crucial for their health.2.  They will need a protected nesting box to lay their eggs.  Their laying area can be lined with hay or wood chip shavings.3.  To keep the chickens happy, they need an enclosed area to exercise.  Be aware they can rip up your lawn, dirt, rock beds, or gardens when they are searching for bugs, grubs, worms and snails.

Tips for owning a rabbit1.  Rabbits need rabbit pellets from the pet store.  They also love to eat celery, carrots leaves, grapes, lettuce, apples (no seeds), and dried fruit.  Please don't feed rabbits veggies that are moldy.2.  At night, rabbits enjoy feeling safe.  They will need shelter that keeps them off the ground, that includes a box filled with hay.  During the day, you can let them roam about your enclosed yard; be careful of any veggies or plants they might also enjoy!3.  If you have other pets, especially dogs, please be careful that you are paying attention when both the rabbit and dog are in the yard together.  Also, don't put two boy bunnies in the same cage, they will most likely fight.

Loopy BirdOnce upon a time there was a Loopy Bird that was trying to make a nest. So she went out to look for supplies for her nest. All she found was a tin can and a piece of paper, so she made part of her nest out of that. Then she went to find some more supplies. When she came back there was a bird sitting on part of her nest. She talked to the other bird. She shared her supplies so the other bird made a nest next to her. Then they lived in it. The End.By: Avrie Varagara age 7

This painting is oil paint on canvas. I think (though I’m not entirely sure) I might call it “Gemstone Swan”. That sounds good, doesn’t it? I’ll probably call it that.

The story behind the painting is that I was painting with oil paints for the first time. I made little birds on another canvas including the one this is based on. I thought it was quite pretty so I decided to replicate it on my other canvas, making some adjustments to make it fit in it’s larger scale on the canvas.

As you can see from the photo above, it is a yellowish brown bird with lots of red feathers. The background is an emerald greenish color, but the camera we used for

some reason couldn't see that so it depicted it in the way you see above.

Here are the colors used:1.(for the body) yellow ochre2.(for the red feathers) crimson red3.(for the background) viridian4.(for the beak) burnt sienna5.(for the pupil) black I really enjoyed painting this. I will try

to do more in the future, but for now I ran out of canvas.
