THE “H” JELLY ROLL QUILT Copyright Nov 2015 By Liz Katsuro

This SUPER easy quilt using 2.5” jelly roll strips comes out looking complicated, impressive and fabulous! But the secret is – even a

beginner can handle this one!

Special note: to efficiently make this quilt, for each fabric used you’ll need 2 strips. Since you'll need 2 of each fabric strip for this quilt, basic

color rolls are your best bet since they have 2 each of 10 different fabrics.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

Baby - 49 blocks, 7 x 7 layout, 42" x 42" 20 color strips, 7 white strips

1 (or more for more variety in color) basic color rolls, 1 white scroll print roll

Throw - 144 blocks, 12 x 12 layout, 72"x72" 58 color strips, 20 white

3 (or more for more variety in color) basic color rolls, 1 white scroll print rolls

Queen - 225 blocks, 15 x 15 layout, 90"x90"

90 color strips, 31 white 5 basic color rolls, 2 white scroll print rolls

King - 324 blocks, 18 x 18 layout, 108"x108"

130 color strips, 44 white 7 basic color rolls, 3 white scroll print rolls

DIRECTIONS

1. From each set of 2 strips of the same color/print, do the following:

a) Cut (6) 6.5” pieces from one strip b) Cut (4) 6.5” pieces from the other strip.

c) Set aside remaining piece of strip for use in Step 3.

Repeat for all sets of 2 strips.

Baby, 10 sets

Throw, 29 sets Queen, 45 sets King, 65 sets

2. From white strips, cut (3) 13.5” pieces.

Baby, 7 strips Throw, 20 strips Queen, 31 strips King, 44 strips

3. Attach a white 13.5” piece to each side of the

remaining strip piece from step one. (Your leftover strip will be a little longer – you can trim down to

13.5” and add the excess to your scrap pile!)

4. Cut 3-strip segment into (5) 2.5” pieces. The segment is an inch longer than you need, so if

your edges don’t match perfectly on either side, you can trim a little off before you start cutting.

5. Create your H blocks – you’ll get 5 blocks of each fabric set.

6. Lay your blocks out alternating them by 90 degrees. Your odd numbered rows will start with

an upright H, and even numbered rows with a sideways H.

Baby, 7 blocks across – make 4 starting with an upright H, and 3 starting with a sideways H

Throw, 12 blocks across – make 6 of each

Queen, 15 blocks across – make 8 starting with an

upright H, and 7 starting with a sideways H

King, 18 blocks across – make 9 of each

7. Attach into rows, and attach rows together to complete your top.

Baby, 7 rows Throw, 12 rows Queen, 15 rows King, 18 rows

BABY – 42” x 42”

THROW – 72” x 72”

QUEEN – 90”x90”

KING – 108” x 108”
