• 세리는 멀리 서서 감히 눈을 들어 하늘을 쳐다보지도 못하고 다만 가슴을 치며 이르되 하나님이여 불쌍히 여기소서 나는 죄인이로소이다 하였느니라.

• 아무 일에든지 다툼이나 허영으로 하지 말고 오직 겸손한 마음으로 각각 자기보다 남을 낫게 여기고 (빌립보서 2:3)

• remember that I am by nature a depraved sinner

• ponder that this condition of mine is so desperate that it could only be remedied at the cost of the horrid death of the Son of God

• meditate on those Scriptures (1 Peter 5:5-6, Luke 9:48, Mark 9:35, Matthew 20:26)

• pray that the eyes of my heart would see these biblical truths for what they really are

• ask God to make me not just see them but also feel them with a sense of the meekness and lowliness and brokenness that corresponds to their true weight
