THE GREAT SILK ROAD EXPEDITION

It is a route that was mapped in the II Century BC. It

is the first transcontinental road, that became a

linking point between the West and the East. First

lasting peaceful relations were established through

this road. Everything that makes our culture versatile,

everything that our life consists of: spiritual values,

religious ideas, cultural, political and economical ties

– the Great Silk Road has provided us with these

fortunes for centuries.

Page 5: The Great Silk road Expedition (english version)

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE GREAT SILK ROAD

All of the trading cities on the Great Silk Road were not only

intermediaries in transportation of goods from the East to the

West and back, they were unique centers for peaceful

communication for various nations, who inhabited

Northern and Southern, Western and Eastern sides of

this Trans-Eurasian artery. For centuries people of

different cultures have been coming with peace to each

other.

Page 6: The Great Silk road Expedition (english version)

The existence of the Great Silk Road became a great stimulus for economical and cultural integration of nations of the Old World.

Despite the fact that the war struggle between civilizations of the West and the East, which existed since the dawn of eras (Roman- Iranian, Byzantine-Sasanian, or Christian-Islamic variants) provided far from best conditions for trade and cultural dialogue.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE GREAT SILK ROADUNIFICATION AND RECOVERY OF THE LOST ROUTE

Page 7: The Great Silk road Expedition (english version)

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE GREAT SILK ROAD

However, paradoxically the trade has not ceased, moreover

it is intensifying, and it means that valuable exchange will

always exist and there is hope for peaceful co-existence on

the world scale, because despite of the complicated political

relations of the leading countries, that occur around this

Trans-Eurasian axle, multi-faceted trade and cultural

interaction of the Western and Eastern civilizations is still

strong.

Page 8: The Great Silk road Expedition (english version)

• Advocacy of the international tourism

• To unify the lost route

• To Prove that the Great Silk Road should be used for tourism and trade ties between countries

• To acquaint countries of the Great Silk Road with the Russian culture

• To show our country’s citizens the beauty and rich culture of countries of the Eastern and Southeastern Asia

• To attract attention of the wide public to the importance of Geodesy and Cartography in modern satellite technologies, based on the GLONASS system

MISSION OF THE EXPEDITIONUNIFICATION AND RECOVERY OF THE LOST ROUTE

Page 9: The Great Silk road Expedition (english version)

MISSION OF THE EXPEDITION

We want to stress the significance of the international ties, their importance on the world scale and for every single individual.

All participants of the expedition will take on the role of pioneers of the modern Great Silk Road. The topicality of this event is stressed by the modern political situation and striking need for its improvement.

The mission of this expedition is global: we will serve as an example for everyone, as we will show that borders and barriers will not stand in the way of peace and friendship.

Page 10: The Great Silk road Expedition (english version)

EXPEDITION’S GOALS

The city has received a request from Russia for the

installation of poet’s statue in Moscow.

As part of this project it is planned to set up a

monument to Pushkin in Chennai in response .

The expedition’s team with great pleasure and utmost

care will assist in the implementation of such project.

This event will further strengthen the friendship and

enrich the cultural relations between our countries.

• We are going to hold a big event in the cultural exchange field between Russia and India.

• In the city of Chennai, the capital of Tamil, a birthday celebration of the revered poet-philosopher Tiruvalluvar will take place.

Page 11: The Great Silk road Expedition (english version)

GOAL OF THE EXPEDITION

• Verification of the possibility of technical realization of large international automotive and motorcycle journeys.

• Analysis and description of conditions of sites of the World Heritage. The route of the expedition is “tied” to the UNESCO sites, which were included to the World Heritage list.

• To follow both major variants of the Great Silk Road in one circular route (Northern and Southern).
