João Chaves, a visiting priest of Santa Maria Island, preached a very spiritually uplifting Lenten Mission for our community. It was great to see so many people in attendance each evening, as well. I would like to thank Gilda Pedro, Matt DeMatos and the St. Anthony's Portuguese Choir for providing the beautiful music for the Mission. Also, I would like to thank the altar servers, lectors, Eucharistic Ministers and all who volunteered to make the Mission a good experience. I would like to thank, as well, all those who worked to make the Thursday evening reception such a delightful time. The birthday cake for your pastor was a wonderful surprise. I truly appreciated that, too! The Malassada Sale on Sunday was a success, once again. I would like to thank Gilda Pedro and all those who spent so many hours working to make the best malassadas around! Thank you, as well, goes to all those who contributed, in advance of the sale, to help defray the cost of preparations. As Holy Week draws nearer, may the Lord continue to bless us all on our Lenten pilgrimage, this year!

Prayer for Persecuted Christians Please join in us in praying this prayer for Persecuted Christians around the world Father in Heaven, you make your Sun Shine on good and bad alike. Your Son

Jesus Christ died for us all and in His glorious Resurrection He still retains the five wounds of His passion. With His

divine power He now sustains all those who suffer the persecution and martyrdom for the sake of their fidelity to

faith of the Church. Merciful and mighty Father, do not allow Cain to return again to murder helpless Abel,

innocent Abel. May persecuted Christians around the world remain, like Mary,

their Mother, together at the foot of the cross of Christ the Martyr. Comfort those menaced by violence and those oppressed

by uncertainty. May your Holy Spirit of love make fruitful the witness and the blood of those who die forgiving. Amen.

TELEVISION MASS This Sunday, March 22, the 11:00am Mass will be televised by The Portuguese Channel. Memorial offerings will be accepted in advance of the Mass. You may place your memorial offerings in the collection

basket at weekend Masses or bring them directly to the Parish Office. The names of your memorialized loved ones and intentions will be read at the beginning of the Mass.

We are asking our parishioners if they can bring different items of food to fill baskets to go out to our poor for Easter. For this week we ask for canned goods. .

Sister Mary Sardinha, S.S.D. will be teaching our Adult Faith

Formation classes. Sister’s classes takes place at the same

time as the youth Faith Formation classes on Saturday and

Sunday mornings. The theme of sister’s course this year is

“Decisions”, based on the works of the popular Catholic

author, Matthew Kelly. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the Bible.

Parish Bake Sale There will be a parish-wide bake sale this weekend March 21 and 22. Parishioners are invited to donate baked goods that will be available for purchase after all weekend Masses. The funds raised through this bake sale will go towards the purchasing of supplies that are needed for our parish kitchen.

Since his birth, we have

remembered Joe Lima, Jr., in our

prayers. Many people have asked

how Joe Jr. is progressing.

His parents, Joe and Allison Lima

have said that they would like to

express their gratitude to the parish

for our prayerful support. The

following is Mr. and Mrs Limas’s

update. He is now 6lbs 5 oz. They did a follow-up

ultrasound on his head on Monday and it shows no new

bleeding and or swelling. He recently passed both hearing

and eye exams. He is learning how to drink out of a bottle.

Once he masters that he will beable to go home. Thank you

again for all of your prayers and support. God Bless.

Joe and Allison Lima
