HILL END PUBLIC SCHOOL
Reading Rules! Back into the swing of
regular school life and of
course our focus on
essential English and
Maths skills. It goes
without saying that
reading is of course an
essential skill in life, and
a skill that needs to be
supported and encour-
aged, not only at school
but just as importantly
at home also.
Reading is a fundamental
skill that has a profound
impact on our lives, and
it begins at an early age.
When you read aloud to
a child, you open the
door to new worlds,
new perspectives and
new opportunities to
grow. Every child de-
serves to experience the
benefits reading brings.
Learning to read is a
vital part of learning in
general. It triggers brain
development, enhances
thinking skills and builds
self-confidence. It’s easy
to take our ability to
read for granted but it
didn’t just happen.
Helping a child learn to
read takes patience, per-
sistence and praise.
As a teacher I know the
rewards of helping my
students master reading.
As a parent that person-
al reward of helping
your own child to read
must simply be wonder-
ful. It is a gift for life.
Make reading with your
child a part of your daily
home environment.
Music & Art
This week we welcomed
Mrs Smyth back to our
school with her focus on
creativity, music and art.
The children enjoyed
creating some autumn
artworks, worked on a
new rhythm item and
sang some of their fa-

vourite songs.
It was great to hear
the school full of music
and singing again after
being so quiet without
students.
150th Celebrations
Planning and work for
the schools 150th
celebrations is well
underway. Part of the
celebrations include the
publication of a special
book to celebrate the
history of our school. I
am grateful to everyone
near and far who is help-
ing and contributing.
Enjoy the rest of the
week, remember to be
aware of personal space!
Kind Regards
Mr G

It was wonderful to wel-

students were very excited
to see her. After morning
lessons Mrs Smyth taught a
new rhythm and some won-
derful artwork was also
produced. Well done!
Beth and Toby were happy to begin
ukulele lessons with Mr G this week.
