10 OctoberThe Careers Department arranges for a presentation to all7th formers about the new International A-Levels.

11 OctoberThe following students represent the School in the InterschoolTennis Tournament 2013-14: Christo des Sotos, KountourosNicolas, Avraam Christos, Avraam So a, Kirou Vasilia andHadjigregoriou Anna-Maria.

11 OctoberThe members of the Student Council, in cooperation withthe Parents Association, organise the GCS Barbecue 2013.Funds raised are donated to the Anti-Cancer Society and theStelios Hadjipetris Foundation.

11 OctoberThe GCS Volunteers participate in the School BBQ andcollect money to pay the property tax of a 9-year-old boywhose parents died in the Helios airline accident.

14 OctoberForm 5 students attend a seminar by the Cyprus ResuscitationCouncil, on how to manage Cardiac Arrest. The seminar ispart of a series of projects organised to honour the EuropeanRestart a Heart Day.

15 OctoberThe members of the Current Affairs Club watch thedocumentary ‘The Threat of the Neo-Nazis’.

16 OctoberThe members of the Maths Club organise their annualTreasure Hunt, a brain game designed to strengthen visualmemory, with 60 participants from Forms 1 to 7. In groups of3-5, the students nd hidden words, locations or places byusing a series of clues. Winners: Kyriakos Rouvas, YiannisPanayi, Yiannis Constantinou, Nicolas Filippou, ChrysanthosAristodemou and Christos Kythreotis, all of 3 Blue.

18 OctoberFirst Lower School excursion: students and staff visit StRaphael and St Marina Church in Xylotymbou village andspend the rest of the day in Protaras.

19 OctoberThe Adventure Club organises the charity event ‘Ποδηλατώκαι ελπίΖΩ’. Proceeds are donated to the charity association‘Αγκαλιάζω’.

21 OctoberThe Sports Department and the Volunteers Club organise acharity futsal tournament for the students of the Lower School.All proceeds are donated to the Foundation Αγκαλιάζω.

21 OctoberThe teachers-in-charge of the Greek Research Club organisethe rst lecture of the MERA Programme. Guest Speaker: MrNicolas Ioannides, Stylist.

22 OctoberThe Sports Department organises a Sports Day for thestudents of the Lower School. The medal winners willrepresent the School in the Nicosia District Track & FieldGames organised by the Ministry of Education & Culture.

22 OctoberThe members of the Science Club, accompanied by theirteachers, visit the Lanitis Brothers Milk Plant.

23 OctoberThe following students participate and excel in the 2013Interschool Swimming Competition among students of privateschools: Kakoyiannis Nestoras – Gold Medal and MoyseosThekla – Silver Medal.

24 OctoberThe students of the IGCSE Chemistry class carry out theFractional Distillation of Ethanol and Water experiment,the purpose of which is to separate two miscible liquids ofdifferent boiling points.

25 OctoberThe Department of Modern Greek announces the organisationof a competition based on creativity through literature. Thecompetition is open to the students of all Forms.

25 OctoberStudents and staff celebrate the 28th October Anniversaryduring a commemoration in the School Auditorium. Teacher-in-charge: Ms Georgia Kyriakidou.

25-26 OctoberStudents of Form 1 attend the educational programme LearnHow to Learn, a two-day seminar the purpose of which isto help students improve their studying techniques andcomprehension skills.

26 OctoberRock Night Auditions: approximately twenty bands auditionfor a place in this year’s event organised by the students ofForm 5.

28 OctoberUpper School students participate in the 28th OctoberAnniversary parade.

29 OctoberStudents of Forms 6 and 7 donate blood at the Blood DonationCentre in Engomi.

29 OctoberThe screening of the documentary ‘The Threat of the Neo-Nazis’ is followed by a discussion among the members of theCurent Affairs Club on the topic of Neo-Nazism.

30 OctoberThe members of the Maths Club participate in an online mathscompetition, the aim of which is to challenge quick thinking.

31 October‘Happy Halloween Day’ organised by the Student-LibrariansClub. Students of Forms 1-3 attend the event for a trick ortreat, spooky stories and other fun activities.
