Christine Holgate joined Australia Post as Group Chief Executive Officer and
Managing Director on 30 October 2017, after nearly 9 years as the Chief
Executive Officer of Blackmores Ltd.
Christine has more than 30 years of diverse international leadership experience
in highly regulated industries, including healthcare, media, telecommunications
and finance.
She has more than 20 years of public board experience as either a non-executive
director or CEO and has held senior management positions in Asia, the Americas
and Australia.
Christine is the inaugural Chair of the Board of the Australia-ASEAN Council
(which supports the development of trade and cultural relations between
Australia and the 10 member countries of the ASEAN region). She also serves
on the board of the Collingwood Football Club. Christine’s past appointments
include time as a non-executive director of Ten Network Holdings Limited.

Jodi Cant was appointed Director General of Department of Finance in August
2018. For the two years prior, Jodi was Chief Executive of Landgate, Western
Australia’s Land Information Authority. Under Jodi’s leadership, the business
was named Australia’s Most Innovative Government Agency and 19th Most
Innovative Business by the Australian Financial Review.
Jodi is a transformative leader who embraces disruption with a positive and
creative outlook. She is an innovator, collaborator and connector with excellent
communication skills. Her experience ranges across the government, start-up,
private and not-for profit sectors – bringing each of those perspectives to any
challenge she faces. Jodi is a Board member of PSMA Australia and has
previously sat on the Boards of Property Exchange Australia Ltd and Earthmine
Australia.

Anthea Raven is responsible for developing policy and guidance relating to
workers’ compensation and work health and safety (WHS) and oversees the
development of workers’ compensation and WHS data and evidence.
Anthea has been with Safe Work Australia since June 2017. She has a
background in health services, with over 14 years of experience in key health
and social policy areas of the Australian Public Service. These include population
health and chronic disease prevention, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
Health, Aged Care Reform and Family Programs Policy.

Naveen Unni is the managing partner in McKinsey & Company’s Perth office. He
has worked at McKinsey for over 15 years, the last six of which have been in
establishing the Perth office and growing it 10x over this period.
He is also a leader of the electric power and organisation practices in Australia.
He works with clients in lasting transformation in the face of external disruption.
Over the past six years, he has delivered over $3bn of annual EBIT
improvements for his clients, while improving organisation culture and capability.
More recently, he helps clients create and implement digital and growth

Professor Dawn Freshwater was appointed Vice-Chancellor of The University of
Western Australia (UWA) in January 2017. Prior to this she was the Senior
Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Registrar for three years, during which time she led
the design and implementation of a modernised academic structure to optimise
UWA’s world class research and cultivate educational outcomes and student
experience. Professor Freshwater continues to lead UWA through significant
growth with the development of the Strategic Plan for 2030.
Professor Freshwater is a Member of the National Health and Research Medical
Council (NHMRC)’s Women in Health Science (WiHS) Committee. She is also
Deputy Chair and Director of Group of Eight (Go8), member of Chief Executive
Women (CEW) Engagement Committee, Board Director of PerthUSAsia Centre,
member of the Partnership Board of the World University Network (WUN), Board
Vice-Chair of the Matariki Network of Universities (MNU), Vice-Chair of the
Australian Higher Education Industrial Association (AHEIA) and a Governor of the
Forrest Research Foundation. Professor Freshwater was also a panel member
for the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) 2014 Research
Excellence Framework (REF) (UK), the first full research assessment using
impact measures to assess the quality of research in UK higher education
institutions.
A strong advocate for inclusive and authentic leadership, Professor Freshwater
is driving this agenda at UWA with a focus on values, inspiring a culture of
appreciative inquiry. Professor Freshwater is a strong advocate for inclusion and
diversity. Professor Freshwater has contributed to almost 200 publications,
including books/chapters, peer-reviewed papers, research reports, editorials as
well as media contributions. Additionally, she continues to provide supervision
to two PhD students.

Diane Smith-Gander is non-Executive director AGL Energy, Wesfarmers Limited,
Chair of Safe Work Australia, Asbestos Safety & Eradication Council, a board
member of Keystart Loans, CEDA, member of the NRFA Partnership Council
and immediate past President of Chief Executive Women, Australia’s pre-
eminent women’s advocacy group.
Diane has held a wide range of non-executive roles in the past including
Chairman of Broadspectrum, Deputy Chairperson of NBNCo, non-executive
director of the CBH Group, commissioner of Tourism WA and board member of
the Committee for Perth.
Diane’s last executive role was Group Executive at Westpac; a member of the
leadership team of the corporation, responsible for all Information Technology,
back office operations, global vendor management and property. Diane was a
General Manager at Westpac for 10 years in the 1990s responsible for back
office functions, retail networks and support functions.
Prior to re-joining Westpac Diane was a partner at McKinsey & Company in
Washington and New Jersey serving clients in diverse industries globally. Diane
became a senior advisor to McKinsey in Australia in 2016.
Diane has been active in sports administration and is a past Chairman of both
Basketball Australia Limited, the sport’s peak body, and the Australian Sports
Drug Agency, the government agency responsible for deterring the use of
performance enhancing drugs.
Diane holds an MBA from the University of Sydney and a BEc from the University
of Western Australia (UWA). In 2015 she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate
of Economics from UWA. She is a Fellow of the AICD and Governance Institute
of Australia and an adjunct professor of corporate governance at UWA where
she serves on the advisory board of the Business School.

Rowena Albones joined Rio Tinto in September 1999 as a Commercial Analyst
for Hamersley Iron. Since joining Rio Tinto, Rowena has held various financial
and commercial roles across Rio Tinto. Her experience includes finance roles in
operations, major project development and construction and business
development. She has also held leadership roles representing Rio Tinto in
multiple joint ventures.
Rowena was appointed Chief Financial Officer for the Iron Ore group in June
2018. In this role, she leads the finance function with strong focus on decision
making and commercial governance across the portfolio including responsibility
for finance business partnership, business analysis & risk, state agreements &
approvals, warehousing & logistics and strategy.
Before joining Iron Ore, Rowena was Chief Financial Officer Growth & Innovation
where she established PACE consulting to provide management consulting and
data analytics services to the business and governance and financial oversight
of Oyu Tolgoi as a Board member since 2013.
Prior to this, Rowena was chief financial officer Copper & Coal where she led the
global finance and commercial function for the copper and coal portfolio.
Rowena holds a Bachelor’s degree majoring in Economics and Finance and a
Masters in Business Administration, both from Curtin University, Australia.

CEDA Copland Leadership Program 2019
The Copland Leadership Program is CEDA’s professional development program for emerging leaders from corporate,
government, academic and community sectors since 2011 in Western Australia.
The Program was designed with today’s fast-paced, dynamic business environment in mind. It challenges conventional
leadership thinking and teaches participants to act decisively in complex situations. In 2018, the program will consist of
seven full-day modules from May to November.
Participants are provided with access to some of Australia’s top business leaders, who will share their insights and
industry experience in highly interactive and informative group sessions.

Research and policy
CEDA’s only agenda is to pursue good public policy to progress Australia’s
economic and social development. Since 1960 CEDA has produced more than
3000 publications, research reports and articles highlighting emerging issues and
directions in a diverse range of policy areas. Research in 2018 will focus on
inequality; community attitudes to economic growth and development; and a major
review of the purpose of economic growth and development in Australia.
