US Healthcare System is controlled by factors such as national economy, demographics, personal lifestyle and behaviors, technology, and federal and state policies.

ECONOMY

The United States budget is burdened by the increase cost of:

Excessive/Preventable use of facilities Poor health of the conditions of the

citizens, such as obesity and cancer Struggle to maintain healthcare

services

DEMOGRAPHICS

Significant growth in the elderly population in the future

Seniors will require a comfortable living environment and demand an increase in aides/nurses with the huge number of baby boomers in the US

The US aims to control birth rates through family planning to lower the population, which lowers the cost on healthcare systems

THE PROGRESS OF HEALTHCARE JOBS BY 2020

There will be rapid growth in US occupation by 2020.

GOOD CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN HEALTHCARE BY 2020

Health Administrator Nursing Aide Community Health Manager Healthcare Advisor

PERSONAL LIFESTYLE AND BEHAVIOR

1/3 children and 2/3 adults in the US are obese due to poor or unhealthy habits

There are high number smokers and drinkers in the US

Several chronic conditions are a result of these poor behaviors

This will raise the cost of healthcare in the future More healthcare professionals are also necessary

to fulfill the needs of the Americans seeking treatment for chronic illness developed by these unhealthy habits

TECHNOLOGY

The uses of smart devices to store, send, and receive medical records and/or prescriptions

This will typically improve the communication and comprehension of patients with their healthcare advisor.

Future Career opportunities include: Information Technology (IT) specialist Biomedical equipment Technician Healthcare Managers

FEDERAL AND STATE POLICIES

The increased number individuals seeking medical services will mean that the government must work hand in hand with healthcare providers to expand future US healthcare system.

Allow for more individuals to be accountable for their healthcare information in the future

Allow individuals assurance to have a fair health insurance rates as well as equivalent healthcare services.
