BACKGROUND

The meagre national investment in engineering education offers

little hope of improvement, unless some drastic steps are taken.

Engineering education in Pakistan receives less attention from

governmental quarters than its importance to the country would

justify.

The human resource output from the universities is generally blow

the mark.

The ranking of Pakistan’s engineering universities in the 1000 top

universities of the world by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World

University Rankings, shows our insignificant presence.

BACKGROUND

The Pakistan Engineering Council and Higher Education Commission are the

key organizations for making policies for development of engineering

profession in the country.

Over the years, the Pakistan Engineering Council has become an influential

voice, which speaks for the engineering profession as a whole in the country. It

can form an effective bridge between Government, industry and education.

PEC has so far, recognized 134 engineering educational institutions in the

country. This number indicates a big lot of engineers rolling out every year,

who need to be absorbed in the jobs.

Low salary structure of faculty.

Most of the faculty is generally with little practical experience.

Faculty not aware of market requirements.

Faculty is not much versed with the use of software.
