The threat to traditional innovators is that as health information is digitised and new kinds of patient data arrives from better screening, sensors and

even from social media, payers (insurers/governments) can get much better insight into

which treatments improve outcomes.

This will introduce value-based reimbursement.

If a drug / device doesn’t demonstrate an improvement, it will not be bought.
