NHS Fife is looking for a forward thinking individual to join our organisation and hope that this vital and rewarding role catches your imagination and that you are encouraged to apply.

You will lead on the delivery of an effective, responsive Infection Prevention & Control service, fully supported by our excellent Infection Control Team.

You will have proven leadership, people management and organisational skills to ensure a high standard of Infection Control service delivery, meeting all commitments for the HAI/HEI Infection Control agenda.

You will have significant infection control experience with a portfolio of evidence demonstrating knowledge in this specialised field, as well as experience of both project management and managing a team.

You will deputise for the HAI Executive Lead (NHS Fife Board Director of Nursing on Infection Control matters, as required.

You will have a relevant degree level qualification (or equivalent) together with evidence of on-going continuous professional development in Infection Control and experience of working at a senior management level.

Excellent communication skills including effective negotiation and influencing, with experience in presenting to a range of audiences are essential.

An exciting opportunity has arisen a for District Charge Nurse to join the community nursing teams within West Division to support the delivery of high quality care for a wide variety of patients and support the ongoing development of community nursing across Fife in line with local and National drivers.

You will have responsibility for the line management and clinical leadership of a District Nursing team providing nursing care to a defined patient caseload. You will have excellent time management skills and a flexible person centred approach as well as the ability to effectively prioritise workload thus enabling patients to remain as independent as possible in their own homes whilst having their care needs met. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be committed to the ongoing development of an effective nursing team.

You will provide assessment and treatment of mental health problems to patients in their own homes and clinics. You will be educated to degree level or poses equivalent relevant experience with evidence of continuous professional development and able to demonstrate an understanding of the impact of physical disorders on mental health. The Charge Nurse will have excellent knowledge of completing comprehensive mental health assessments with this complex patient group. You will be a clinical expert and have experience and knowledge in delivering person centred nursing care. You should have knowledge of the Mental Health Strategy and be aware of the priorities for re-balancing care within Mental Health. Experience and knowledge of Forensic Mental Health care would be an advantage.

Although working as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will make sound independent clinical and professional decisions on a daily basis.

As Charge Nurse working alongside the Senior Charge Nurse you will provide effective leadership, operational management and organisational development of Radernie Low Secure Unit within the wider forensic services. You will work closely with the Senior Charge Nurse, Lead Nurse and Multi-Disciplinary team to continuously develop services that are highly functioning, fit for purpose and provide an excellent standard of care.

It is essential that you have excellent interpersonal skills, communication and problem solving skills. You must be assertive and articulate with the ability to remain calm under pressure. You should pose excellent organisational and time management skills.

A rare opportunity has arisen within the Children and Young Peoples community nursing service for a forward thinking nurse who is looking for the next stage of their career.

Under the supervision of the nurse team leader, you will co-ordinate care packages and support respite for children with exceptional health care needs. You will ensure high standards of care are delivered. This will be achieved by providing training and supervision to all nurses, Healthcare support workers and social work care staff in clinical skills relevant to children with exceptional healthcare needs.

Alongside the Nurse Team Leader you will be involved in ensuring all aspects of the Child’s Plan are being met as well as supporting and supervising more junior members of staff in the day to day delivery of care.

You must be a registered nurse ideally with experience of working with children and young people within a community setting. Previous experience of working with children and young people with exceptional healthcare needs would be advantageous. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to work as part of a multiagency team.

The post also involves leading the unique area of environmental controls for patients living in Fife with complex physical disabilities.

You will book in specimens (PID) on Laboratory Information Management System (Lab Centre) using bar code readers and keyboard entry of request forms. You will also be responsible for correct storage and retrieval of samples. The role involves processing the specimens in preparation for further testing and investigation

The department is supported by 5 speciality Doctor sessions a Specialist Registrar from the Edinburgh rotation and a rotating GP trainee. Close working relationships exist with Maxillofacial Surgery and Plastic Surgery. Monthly meetings are held with the local Histopathologists. The department has strong links with the Academic Department of Dermatology in Edinburgh and the Research and Development Department in NHS Fife.

You are invited to apply for the post of International Medical Training Fellow in Ophthalmology. This post is based at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline, with a commitment to Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.

You will join a well established team of 9 Consultant Ophthalmologists, 4 specialty trainees in ophthalmology and 2 associate specialists/specialty doctors who provide elective and emergency services in Fife. The successful applicant will have a varied experience and exposure to a range of the subspecialties undertaken within NHS Fife.

You will participate in the provision of emergency services with our specialty registrars on week days until 5pm. It is envisaged that a limited number of overnight and weekend duties may be required, but the majority of these are provided by the ophthalmology trainee doctors.

The successful candidate will be supported to participate in research.

Ophthalmology in NHS Fife

NHS Fife serves a catchment area with a population of 380,000 with the post being based at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline. You will also be required to work at one of the other facilities used by NHS Fife at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, the Adamson Hospital in Cupar, and St Andrews Memorial Hospital.

The eye department provides out-patient clinics and elective surgery for adult and paediatric patients throughout Fife. Our consultants provide general ophthalmology services, as well as specialist care in medical retina, glaucoma, oculoplastics, cornea and external eye disease, paediatrics, uveitis and ocular motility.

Victoria Hospital is a modern well-equipped District General Hospital providing a wide range of services including General Surgery, Vascular, Trauma, and Renal Medicine. There is a Day Surgery Unit, a 10 bedded Intensive Care Unit, 10 Surgical High Dependency and 5 Medical High Dependency beds.

This new post is to support the development of provision of high quality patient care within the ENT Department. It is aimed at clinicians 3 years post registration who wish to broaden their clinical experience and receive excellent training in Emergency Medicine. Specialty Doctors will work alongside Specialty trainees in ENT from the East of Scotland training rotation. Successful applicants will work at a middle grade level on a rota which provides 24 hour middle grade cover for the department under consultant supervision. The rota will include overnight and weekend work.

The post attracts 10 PAs of which 9 will be Direct Clinical Care and 2 will be for ongoing Continuing Professional Development. These PAs can be used flexibly for ongoing training and development. All Specialty Doctors will be allocated an educational supervisor to support them in their ongoing training and facilitate appropriate training opportunities tailored to the individual’s interests and training needs. Development and maintenance of a portfolio is encouraged.

Specialty Doctors will be involved in the initial assessment and management of patients attending the ENT department, and in supervising and supporting GPSTs in patient management. This will involve work in clinics, theatre and on-call periods. There will be opportunities for the Specialty Doctor to manage their own clinic and run their own theatres under consultant supervison.

The department is a very well integrated service with the ward and clinics being in one area with the same nursing staff and GPSTs working in both. Our own dedicated theatres are nearby and we have very close links with audiology which also has facilities on the ward. All types of ENT pathologies are assessed here with and both paediatric and adult pathologies managed here. We are one of the busiest

departments in Scotland and have patients with a wide range of interesting and unusual pathologies.

We have a consultant body of 6 with current registrars visiting from Tayside, with 2 dedicated registrars commencing August 2019. The department also has GPSTs and 2 nurse practitioners who manage patients presenting with ear, tonsil and allergy issues. On call will be expected of the Specialty Doctor both during the week and weekends with full time consultant cover.

This is a great opportunity for any junior doctor interested in exploring the possibility of a career in paediatrics or a doctor who has not had the opportunity to participate in a paediatric placement as part of their training scheme to gain experience in paediatrics/neonates in a busy, but well supported, friendly and popular DGH paediatric department. This post has deanery approval for paediatric specialty training.

The successful candidate will join a team of doctors and Paediatric and Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners in contributing to the junior tier rota covering acute paediatrics and neonates. There is a resident middle grade as well as a consultant tier providing the appropriate level of support and supervision.

Acute paediatric services are based in a 26 bed in-patient ward which is integral to the children’s services in the new Victoria Hospital. The ward has a dedicated High Dependency Bay, a separate Short Stay Paediatric Assessment Area (SSPAA) and a ground floor resuscitation room. The SSPAA acts as a focus for acute referrals from GPs, OOH service and ED.

The neonatal unit is a Level III neonatal unit with 14 Special Care cots, 4 intensive care cots and 2 high dependency care cots. There are 3,200 deliveries per year, including high-risk pregnancies, in a consultant-led obstetric unit and an "alongside" midwifery-led unit.

The post holder will have the opportunity to attend outpatient clinics (general paediatric as well as a wide variety of sub specialities)

The department has an excellent reputation for teaching (both Edinburgh and Dundee medical students are placed there) and training (ST3-8 paedatric trainees and GPSTs rotate from the SES training programme).

We work from purpose built premises. We are looking to recruit a GP to cover maternity leave from the beginning of January 2019 until the end of August 2019. These dates are negotiable and the post has the potential to be extended. The GP going on leave covers 8 sessions per week over 4 days.

We operate from two modern purpose-built premises in Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay and run a Consulting Room facility one day per week in Aberdour. There is easy parking in the area when out and about on house calls.

Our main Surgery, Inverkeithing, is situated just across the Queensferry Crossing and is approximately 25 minutes’ commute from central Edinburgh and within easy reach of Perth/Stirling.
