What does freegan mean? Freegan is a combination between the

word “free” and “vegan”. A vegan is a person who doesn´t eat or use animal products such as meat, fish, eggs, cheese or leather.

There is a clear difference between vegetarians and vegans. Vegans is the strictest sub-category of vegetarians. Some go as far as not even consuming honey or yeats.

Do you know how they work? Eating food from garbage cans and

dumpsters is usually associated with homeless people.

freegans can often be found rooting through dumpsters around closing time, for the most part they are not joblessor homeless.

The wasteful consumerist culture they are simply protesting a culture that

discards tons of edible food while people starve elsewhere in the world. They eat the free and often perfectly healthy food that is thrown out by stores or restaurants.

Supermarkets thrown away food at the end of the day by expiration date or if a costumer complains.
