VOLUNTEERISM
Fr. Mark’s Corner
By Fr. Mark Fracaro
On the cross, Jesus bequeathed to us His own Mother.
Through the ages, Mary has exercised her maternal role for
us. One of the many ways she fulfills her role as the Mother
of us all is by manifes ng herself to chosen witnesses. Her
insistence is always on the Gospel proclama on as lived,
taught and prayed by the Church. Her purpose is to always
center us on her Son, the one mediator between God and us.
Why Mary keeps returning to this earth she le twenty
centuries ago lies in the Heart of Mary (which we should
come to understand) and in the needs of the world (which
we understand all too well).
The appari ons of Mary seem to con nue the generosity of
God who o en bolstered belief by touching people where
and when they needed it. Mary has consistently revealed
herself to give encouragement to pray to and live devoutly
before God, to seek peace and reconcilia on, to give encour‐
agement and hope to people who are truly struggling to live
well with their God and one another.
“'Tis the month of our Mother, the blessed and beau ful
days, when our lips and our spirits, are glowing with love and
with praise. All Hail! to thee, dear Mary, the guardian of our
way; To the fairest of Queens, Be the fairest of seasons,
sweet May.”
We are all part of Mary’s family. She is part of our family.
How does she fit into our devo on?

Hearts and Hands Each year a Council may receive a grant of up to $600 to do a small work or service project in their community.
