ShippingOrders are shipped ground freight unless otherwise specified.Expedited and air delivery is available at extra cost. Oversize andheavy Items are shipped via truck, freight collect and may incurrspecial crating charges (especially glass). International and over-seas orders may be shipped by post or UPS Air. The Engine Number is the same as the chassis number.On early models it is stamped on the left hand side of thecylinder block, near the oil filler tube. On later models it isstamped on the cylinder block immediately above the generator mounting bracket.

The Chassis Number is stamped around the right handfront suspension unit upper mounting. Prefixes 100E, 103E,107E & 300E were used for RHD vehicles. LHD vehicleshave a 101E, 108E or 301E prefix.

Brakes Rear Ford 100E

TECH NOTE: USE ONLY CASTROL GT LMA BRAKE FLUID! The seals and hoses in your brake and clutch system are made from natural rubber which is onlycompatible with vegetable based brake fluid. The only vegetable based brake fluid generally available in the US is Castrol GT LMA. Use of improper fluids or mixing of fluids can lead to com-plete failure of brake and clutch hydraulics. On cars not used for daily transportation, brake andclutch systems should be exercised on a regular schedule.

About the Cars...

Introduced as replacements for the woefully obsolete ‘Upright’ models in 1953, the vehicles inof the 100E family were strikingly modern in their appearance. Many of the engineeringadvancements pioneered by the larger Consul/Zephyr/Zodiac range two years earlier wereincorporated into the new models, including; monocoque construction, a 12 volt electrical system, four wheel hydraulic brakes and Fords’s revolutionary McPherson strut independentfront suspension. An entirely new engine design, but retaining the bore and stroke of the previous models, allowed the use of much of the same production machinery. Although thiswas one of the major cost saving features that allowed Ford to undersell its’ competitors whilestill making a profit, the engine that resulted turned out to be the weak link. It’s limited outputand short life, especially when coupled with the three speed transmission, resulted in uninspiring performance, an issue lamented by 100E owners to this day.

Despite it’s drawbacks, the 100E was a major sucess and was produced in greater numbersthan any other British vehicle of the time. It’s simplicity, solid contruction and economy hashelped to perpetuate it’s legacy, with many examples surviving to this day. These same attributes and the ready availability of most parts that make the 100E popular and comparatively simple restoration projects.
