Makerspace Blog The Clearview Library District is constantly in the

process of creating; whether it be arts and crafts,

robotics, 3D printing, painting, or any other digital or

physical creation. We now have a blog dedicated to

those types of activities. Often referred to as

"Makerspaces", we are also developing our own space

at the library where our patrons can come in and make

stuff! To check out our "Making" activities, check out

our blog at www.clearviewlibrary.org/create . You can

also access our Create blog by going to our main page,

and scrolling down until you

see the Create logo. Keep

updated on our "making"

activities, and feel free to

leave comments on our posts!

Toddlers and preschoolers love to learn

and want to establish their

independence. Let them—and let them

fail and make mistakes! That’s how

children learn to problem solve!

Let your child use a plastic knife to

learn to cut food. Let kids work out

minor spats and arguments on their

own. Let them make mistakes

coloring and tying their shoes.

Self-correction helps them learn and

grow!

The Mai Minute According to the New York Times; Lisbeth Salander, star of The Girl with the

Dragon Tattoo was based on what author Stieg Larsson thought that Pippi

Longstocking would be like as an adult.

In conversations with friends, they talked about how certain characters from

children’s books might act and behave if they were older. Mr. Larsson especially liked the idea of a grown-up Pippi, he saw her as a dysfunctional girl, probably with

attention deficit disorder. He imagines that she would have had a hard time finding a

place in society but would nonetheless take a firm hand in directing her own destiny.

Those thoughts became the basis of Lisbeth Salander.

Meet CLD’s New Teen Librarian!

I grew up in Berthoud, Colorado so I

obviously love to camp, hike,

snowshoe and be outside as much as

possible. Last book I read was

Armada by Ernest Cline, the song I

ALWAYS sing for karaoke is Betty

Davis Eyes by Kim Carnes. I have a

kitty named Alaska (after the John Green book

Looking for Alaska)

I began my library experience in communications

working with social media, marketing, and website

maintenance. I am currently the Teen Librarian for

Clearview Library District

where I develop teen

programming and services, as

well as outreach to local

schools. I have an MSc in

Information Science from City

University London.
