Current Available Work Hour Opportunities From the desk of Jackie LaPradd

Range Monitors Needed: We are seeking members who would be interested in monitoring the Members

Only ranges during open matches to prevent non-members from unauthorized use of our facilities. Duties include patrolling and monitoring the ranges not being utilized by the current match, and insuring that those using these ranges are members in good standing. Please note, while we are not condoning, and will not

tolerate ANY physical confrontation, you could find yourself faced with a non-member who is verbally abusive. Due to this unfortunate possibility, applicants should be even tempered, feel comfortable in confronting possible trespassers, and have excellent communication skills. Range Cleanup: As many of you may have noticed, our grounds are looking particularly clean and well

maintained this year thanks to the help of a few dedicated members. We still need members who are interested getting their hours by performing clean up duties. If you need to schedule your hours, and have a truck to haul the barrels to the dumpster, please consider stepping up and helping us out in the area. General Ground Maintenance: Warm weather is here. We need one or two members who are willing to

spend several hours preparing, and spreading, fresh grass seed and fertilizer on Range “D”. Although the cold weather killed much of the vegetation, the area will still need to be gone over with a week trimmer, and the seed and fertilizer raked into the dirt to prevent birds and other wildlife from eating the seeds.

From the Desk of Our President, Charlie Coulter It is beginning to look like we may actually be drying out, but a real spring and mild temperatures has been nice. One thing the heavy rains have proven that the majority of our water drainage and diversion projects have worked. Many thanks to all those who helped in the planning and construction of those projects. Our next range improvement will be to replace several of the storage sheds including the cardboard and target storage shed on C range as well as a building to store our tractor and other tools. The cost of these buildings will be greatly re-duced by an anonymous donation. As always, thanks to Jim Sharrow for helping to stretch our dollars. The board wishes to remind members that we welcome their attendance at our monthly meetings. We would ask that any member who wishes to bring a matter before the board for consideration simply contact Jim Sharrow and ask that the subject be added to the upcoming agenda. One last thing is the difficulty that we are having in finding.22 ammo for our youth safety classes. If anyone comes across.22 ammo at a reasonable cost, please notify Harvey Bulaski or any board member.

“Showdown in Dixie”: Cowboy Fast Draw State Match

The CFDA Virginia State Championship will be held on July 12th, 13th & 14th! Details on this match are on our website at http://www.virginiafastdraw.com/. We are surely looking forward to spend-ing time with old friends and brand new friends at what promises to be a very exciting match to determine Virginia’s 2013 State Champions! A reminder, this year’s match will be a little different than last year’s match. Friday, July 12th will be a “Stand Alone” Category Match Day to determine placements and Cham-pions in CFDA Categories. For any questions, please contact us. We hope to see you there! As you can see, the three Virginia CFDA Clubs are very active and busy working hard together to provide “plenty” of shooting opportunities for Gunfighters looking to “slap leather and pull iron” against opponents in a very friendly atmosphere of welcoming southern hospitality. To our regular Virginia Gun-fighters… keep up the great efforts in supporting our clubs! And to our visitors to Virginia...come and see us! We’ll do our best to make ya feel welcome! See you soon! Ringo (aka Jeff Duncan) CFDA Regulator and U.S. Marshal

Meet, Eat, and a Little Bit of Skeet Ladies and gentlemen, come join us Friday, June7th up on the hill for a bit of clays shooting, fellowship, and food. Good times are bound to be had, or at the very least, some free food to fill your belly. Hotdogs, chips, and cold drinks will be provided free of charge, on a first come, first served basis. The grill will be fired up promptly at 6:00 p.m., so come on out and enjoy a relaxing early summer evening with your

friends and fellow members. While the food is free, normal charges apply for a round of clays. Please shoot me an e-mail at [email protected] if you plan to attend so we can ensure we have enough food to go around. In the event of rain, or lack of interest, we will post a cancel-lation notice on our website. Hope to see you there-The Clays Crew!

    Black Powder Cartridge Silhouette

We had a challenging opening for the match season in the rain. Scores really suffered in the fog, rain and black powder smoke maze. We had nowhere to go at this point but up. The people who really earned stars were the target setting crew as they traveled up and down C Range on 4 wheelers battling mud and rain. Without them, the shooters would not have had as much fun. The next match is slated for June 16th and we have better weather scheduled. There is room for more shooters. Stop by at the range and check out Black Powder Cartridge Silhouette we’d love to have you. For additional information or if you just want to help out, contact Dennis Williams at (540) 420-7615.
