Horace L. Wilkins, Jr. was born on October 25, 1961 to the union of Horace L. Wilkins, Sr. and Virginia Wilkins. Horace was the 1st born of that union, and one of 5 children of Dad Wilkins. He was preceded to eternity by his mother Virginia (Echols) Wilkins, and brother Billy Wilkins Sr. and baby Reginald Wilkins. Horace attended Scullin Elementary where he made many lifelong friends. He made more friends completing his grade school days at Ashland Elementary School. He then attended Beaumont High School where he was quite popular. He loved music. During that time he learned to play the trumpet. He was especially into the wind instruments and was part of Beaumont’s Marching Band. He also was the trumpet player for a local band called the ‘Moving On Band,’ which performed many concerts including the then popular “Battle of the Bands” competitions throughout St. Louis and Chicago. During this time of his teen years he accepted the calling on his life of the Lord Jesus. He then devoted himself to study and became an ordained minister under Pastor Thames of Greater Progressive Baptist Church on Taylor Ave. He spoke at Greater Progressive and at several churches throughout St. Louis. He had by then also joined the gospel group ‘The Messengers,’ which was originally the ‘Beaumont Gospel Choir.’ During this transition to living for the Lord he met and married Vernetha Morgan also a member of the Messengers. From that union came Horace L. Wilkins, III and Jason Wilkins. Horace worked throughout St. Louis at various jobs which cooking seemed to be his specialty. Everyone who knew him can attest for his love for dining. He would laugh and let you know if the cooking was good - or let you know otherwise.

As the years went on and life happened, Horace subsequently met and married Anganette Fuller to which from that union came Tony Wilkins, Tameka Wilkins and David Wilkins

[and step-sons Jamial Fuller and Kevin Fuller). Horace lived his life his way and always gave God honor as he dealt with life’s ups and downs and impeding health issues. He always asked about everyone and would laugh out loud at all life memories that he made and remembered. Brother Horace became a full member of the Zion Apostolic Pentecostal Church and heeded the call to ministry. Under the pastorate of District Elder Oscar Houston he spent many hours reading and studying the word of the Lord. He loved Sunday School and Bible Class and he will be truly missed by the congregation. Horace leaves to cherish in his loving memory: His amazing father Horace L. Wilkins, Sr; Sister Jacqueline Daniel (Clifton) , Brothers Lawrence Wilkins, Steve Wilkins , Sons: Horace L. Wilkins, III, Jason Wilkins, Tony Wilkins, David Wilkins, and daughters Tameka Wilkins and Malanee Walters ; extended family LeeAnne Russell who was also in the trenches caring for his medical needs; Grandchildren (Horace III) Kameron - ; (Jason) - Jason, Jr, Malia, Addison, Xavier ; (Tony) Xinoda ; Two Aunts Minnie Pearl Phillips and Alberta Merrell; nephews & Nieces (in siblings order), JaLisa Robinson, Lewis Robinson Jr., Janice Robinson, Jasmine Robinson, Jessica Wilkins, Zoie Wilkins, Asia Wilkins, Brittney Wilkins, Shonie Wilkins, and an extended host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

John 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have

told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

2 Corinthians 5-8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body,

and to be present with the Lord.
