My beloved members,

Our Annual Men’s Empowerment

Conference was held June 1—2, 2012, here at our

church. The men of our church were engaged in

a time of study, friendship and fellowship.

The theme for the Empowerment

Conference this year was “God Molding and

Shaping Men for Being the Church Today,”

Jeremiah 18:6.

As the Pastor of Fairview, I am making the announcement

that God is calling men back to Him. The Lord is saying that I

will mold them and shape them for My purposes in My world!

Men, you need to respond to His call and let the Lord transform

your life.

There is no question in my mind that if thousands of men

across our nation “return to God” and God in turn return to them

(Zachariah 1:3), a great revival will come through them and have

worldwide impact.

Men need to be God’s men in their homes, in churches, and

in the marketplace where God has placed them.

God is searching for faithful men. He is searching for men

He can trust to intercede on behalf of our nation. God is looking

for men He can trust with God-sized tasks (Ezekiel 22:30).

The word “faithful” is linked to a promise: “Be faithful,

even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of

life” (Revelations 2:10). Faithfulness is a life-long goal. It is

persevering to the end. Faithfulness is remaining true to the Lord

and His Word through discouragement and difficulty, as well as

joy and success.

Let me ask the men of Fairview: Will you be that man?

Will the Lord’s eyes rest on you or pass over you?

FAIRVIEW HOLDS 15TH ANNUAL FRIEND’S DAY BY PAULA MCGLORY, CONTRIBUTING REPORTER

Rev. J. L. Franklin, a native of Louisiana, was the guest preacher for Fairview’s 15th Annual Friend’s Day on May 27, 2012.

Rev. Franklin prepared our hearts for the Word as he led us in singing, “God Has Smiled on Me.” His scripture came from Luke 9:46-50, “And Jesus said unto him (John), Forbid him hot: for he that is not against us if for us.” His subject was “Wrong Focus.” Rev. Franklin admonished the congregation that life is too short and God is too good for us to have the wrong focus. We as Christians must stay focused and not get distracted.

His first point: Wrong focus causes selfish intent. We lose our focus when we think that we are the only one who God has that can get the job done. We forget that God always has someone else who can step in and do that same job just as well as, and maybe better, than we can.

The second point: Wrong focus causes a shameful disposition. When we render service to God, we should do so in a spirit of humility. Jesus gave the example of a child who is received “In His Name.” Jesus made it clear to His disciples that the least shall become the greatest. Greatness is measured in humility and servant hood. We lose our focus when we become full of pride and think we are better than others. The third point: Wrong focus causes a sad posture. We lose our focus when we look down on others and do not accept others who are not a part of our group. We become self conceited. If Jesus is pleased, then we should be pleased. Everything that we do should bring glory to Jesus’ name. His name is the giver of all our blessings. His name is the reason for our salvation.

There is nobody like God. Every time God shows up, He shows out! We had a blessed Friend’s Day celebration. We recognized friends and the church family members who invited friends. Rev. Cleo McGlory, Evangelism Minister, presented prizes to the those who had the most friends in attendance. The recipients were: First Place: Teresa Hill (22 guests); Second Place: Lavinne Moore (15 guests); Third Place (tie): Melva Franklin and Rita Wommack (5 guests). Thanks to all that participated. All are winners in the sight of God!

“Life is too short and G

od is too good for us to have the w

rong focus.”

Photos from Friend’s Day can be viewed on the back page of this issue of

DO YOU HAVE A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP

WITH JESUS CHRIST?

If you believe in your heart that Jesus Is Lord, the Christ,

the Savior, the Son of the Living God, and you are willing to

turn from sin to God, then receive Jesus Christ now by faith

and pray this prayer:

Lord Jesus I am a sinner. Forgive me of all my sins, come into my heart

and save me. I do now confess you as my risen Lord.

Thank you Lord Jesus for saving me. AMEN

Seek God to rescue people enslaved in spiritual

darkness. Illuminate the peoples’ darkened minds

and may they follow you with grateful faithfulness.

Isaiah 42:6-7: “The LORD, have called You in

righteousness, And will hold Your hand; I will keep You and

give You as a covenant to the people, As a light to the

Gentiles, To open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the

prison, Those who sit in darkness from the prison house.”

The Bible reveals that the ministry of Jesus Christ

is diametrically opposed to that of the devil and his

agents. While the enemy and his agents ensnare and

imprison people, including Christians, Jesus sets

people free from all forms of captivity.

God has a prison; the devil also has. The difference

is that the prisoners of God are prisoners of hope.

Many people die in the prison of the devil and are

transferred to his mortuary which is hell fire. Some

people have been in his prison for a long time.

Some people usually do not know that they are in

prison. They tend to look at others around them

and fail to look at the person within.

The message of Jesus is filled with the power to

break satanic prison doors around our lives and set

us free so that we can enjoy fully the divine benefits

in Christ. God has the power to set the captives

free and deliver to the uttermost.

God has called His spirit-filled servants to bring

righteousness to His word and to fulfill His

covenant to bless the nations. (Read Genesis 12:1-

3). Jesus took the role of God’s servant and invites

us also to be God’s servants to bring God’s light to

all people. God calls, leads and keeps us. We

respond by involving ourselves in the world’s needs

and leading lost people to God.

2012—JUNE 8 THE FAIRVIEWAN

Greetings in the name of Jesus, the Christ. Another month has

elapsed and it’s time to report the news from the ministry. To

say that it has been a busy month would be an understatement.

The Eighth Annual Empowerment Conference is being held on

the 1st & 2nd of this month and we are claiming the victory in

that it will have been a huge success. It will have been good

once more to have had our National President, Bro. Harold L.

Simmons, with us. He is always sensational as a teacher/

lecturer.

The men have put in extra preparation for their Annual Musical

and it is scheduled to occur on the evening of the publication

date of the June Fairviewan. We are looking for it to be a huge

success, along with the remainder of the Empowerment

Conference. We want to thank Ahmad Kennedy and Rev. James

Reed, III, for their zeal, dedication, and commitment to see that

we were adequately prepared. If we have any success at all,

much of that success can be attributed to their efforts.

A reminder once more to pray for those who have asked for

special prayers on their behalf. Please remember our sick

brethren with special prayers. Let’s remember to pray for

Brothers Ronald House, Willard Jones, Ron Coffey, Robert

Jackson, Roy Nelson, Tyrone White, Billy Marshall, Havered

Hill, Sr. and Harlan Jones.

We take this opportunity to salute one of our most committed

and faithful members who has moved to another location with

his family. The entire family allowed their lights to shine so that

others could see their good works. It saddens us deeply to see

them go, but we have resigned ourselves to the fact that God has

a higher calling for them. Godspeed Deacon Arthur and family.

I personally shall miss you deeply. I am grateful indeed for the

love and care you showed to me during my post operative period

from surgery during early 2011. You provided excellent care

for me when I was unable to care for myself. I shall not ever

forget that. God does not often send people into our lives as

special as the Smith family has been in my life. My prayer is

that God will always bless and keep you and make his face to

shine upon you.

We call upon every Man, Young Man, and Boy that is presently

inactive in our Men’s Ministry to become an active member.

Our scheduled meeting time is the 2nd Monday of each month at

6 PM. God is not pleased with your lack of participation.

Please join me, along with others who are faithful, as we try to

do what thus sayeth the Lord and to be obedient to His calling

upon us to do the works which He intends for us to do.

Also, the Singing Churchmen calls upon you to join with them

as we try to lift our voices in “joyful praise” to God in Song.

We have a place for you and if you can make a joyful noise unto

the Lord, you will fit in perfectly. Our regularly scheduled

rehearsal times are each 1st and 3rd Monday of the month at 7:30

PM. You are cordially invited to join with us on those dates

and at that time.

We close out this writing in asking for your prayers of support

as we try to lead the men. We ask God daily to bless us so that

we may be a blessing in the life of someone else and to order our

steps so that we may do the things which are pleasing in His

sight.

Scripture for the Month: He that gathereth in summer is a

wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth

shame. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that

winneth souls is wise. Proverbs 10:5, 11:30.

Brother Jimmie Lee Reed

JIMMIE LEE REED was born in Oklahoma City,

Oklahoma, to Rev. J. A. Reed, Sr. and Mae Ella

Reed. He was the sixth of eight children.

Jimmie accepted Christ at an early age and

was baptized by his father at Mt. Zion Baptist,

Stillwater. Jimmie was a member of Mt. Calvary

Baptist Church, Muskogee prior to moving to

Oklahoma City and uniting with Fairview.

He was a very jolly and lovable person that

believed in being a friend to all and helping people.

He is survived by loving family members, a number

that are members of the Fairview Church Family,

including one of his brothers, Pastor J. A. Reed,

Jr., and three of his sisters, Claudette Gaines,

Shirley Halstied and Cozetta Heard.

Our prayers are with the Reed family as you

move forward through God’s power in the

departure of Brother Jimmie.

Brother Otis Andrew Wiley

OTIS ANDREW WILEY was born to Ms. Jessie

Burton in Arcadia, Oklahoma. He received his

education in Luther, Oklahoma.

Otis accepted Christ at a very early age. He

moved to Oklahoma City and joined Antioch

Institutional Baptist Church under Rev. F. D.

Waters. Bro. Wiley later became a part of the

Fairview Baptist Church Family and remained a

faithful supporter of the church and its programs

until his health failed.

Brother Wiley was known for his audible

witness and hand claps, witnessing to the glory and

goodness of God. He was a part of the “Fairview

Travelers”, always getting his name on the list,

whether the church was traveling across town or

out of state.

We offer our prayers to the Wiley family. He

will be greatly missed at Fairview.
