West Students in Mrs. Skinner's Class had a wonderful time learning
about fire safety at the
Fairfield Fire Department.
West Preschoolers have been learning
about buildings and construction. Students
built structures with marshmallows and
toothpicks to work on building, shape
recognition and fine motor skills.
Each student got to experience
building a tower and knocking it
down with a wrecking ball in the
motor room.
Megan Shayeson in Mrs. Glass’ class
brought her dad, Lt. Shayeson of the
U.S. Navy, to class for a Veteran’s
Day talk. He told the kids about all
the medals he had on his uniform and
about the places he has served (11
countries).

Freshman
The Freshman School invited
kindergarten students from Central
Elementary to hear the Jazz
Ensemble perform a program of
music dedicated to our Veterans.
The Jazz Ensemble performed
swing music from the Big Band
Era by prolific American composer
Duke Ellington and a modern
funky-rock tune entitled
Chameleon. Both Kindergarten
students and freshman students
enjoyed sharing music and learning
about America’s contribution to art
music called jazz.
