Long Arm Custom Quilting

The Fabric Patch has three long arm quilters on staff available to finish your quilt tops. We have a

turnaround of only three weeks and are very affordable, starting at only .015/square inch. Stop in for a design

quote, or mail your top. We’ll call before we start to ensure you get exactly what you like, quickly, at an

We have a wide selection of 114” backings in stock ranging in price from $8.99 to $14.99/yd, and we

always have several battings in stock. Get your Christmas quilt tops in by Thanksgiving to ensure completion!!

Fall is a great time of year. Kids are back in school. Holiday planning is underway. And we are done with watering twice

a day, done with canning and jamming, and very ready to spend some quiet evenings stitching. We have planned several

great classes for just that AND if that’s not enough, we have three fall retreats planned in case you need to get away to

get anything done. One retreat is a Machine Embroidery Event (see page 6) one is a “Deadline Retreat” for the “OMG”

realization that Christmas has snuck up once again. And one is the option of staying over during the bindathon to get

even more done. We only have room for 11 in each one, so don’t think about it too long!

If you do not have an email

account. You can come into the

shop for a paper copy of your materials list.

We want you to be prepared for your classes!

Our first “Pre-Cut Association”

class was two years

ago and we’ve had

tons of fun since

then. There is

something very

satisfying about

having a quilt kit all

cut out for you…

accurately! And the

huge variety of

colors, sizes and

styles available make

all of the classes very

invaluable for future

endeavors.

We have three left for this year. Diane

Escure will be teaching three new projects,

always on the third Saturday of the month.

Each class is only $16, and includes the

pattern, instruction and a door prize. Lunch

will be provided.

You can look at the calendar to see

which precut is needed for which month.

This class always fills up quickly with a

waiting list. There is only room for 10.

So if you’re not signed up and paid, you’ll

want to hurry….

We have 10 new block of the month patterns to choose from! We wanted to have something for everyone… Christmas, hand appliqué, fusible appliqué, wool, hand embroi-dery… and more!! We will have samples of all of the projects as well as all of the fall class quilts in the shop on Saturday, September 24th for our Fall Block of the Month (BOM) and Class Open House. We will have special pricing, gifts and bonuses for attendees. Some of the new series are “classes” and they are assigned a specific time each month (second Saturday at 10am, first Wednesday at 6pm, etc.). Those classes include PCA, Pin Cushion Club, Embroidery Club, Marula Tree Tote, Que Club and Farmer’s Wife; they are described in detail elsewhere in the newsletter. A “block of the month” quilt can be completed at home at your leisure. Quilters will come in to pick up their monthly packet, or have it mailed, and they have all month to complete the assignment before it’s time for a new project to arrive in the mail. It’s a nice way to work on a large quilt without getting overwhelmed. The fabric and pattern is always included, sometimes even “pre-cut” for ease of construction. You will see all of our BOM quilts available on the website and we generally have a significant number of people from around the U.S. that order our BOM kits. We send all of the blocks out on the 5th of each month. However, those of you in our area have the opportunity to come into the shop to pick up your kit, ask questions, and even work on your BOM quilts. You can receive instruction and assistance to make your quilt successful or opt for a mailed packet rather than a class, if time and/or distance is a factor. A few of our newest BOM’s:

1. To Plant a Flower This gorgeous wall quilt features all of our favorite flowers in simple wool appliqué on a black wool background. This 4 month program is a gardeners dream to get us through the cold winter months. It is only $14/month for four flowers! This includes all wool, a full sized color pattern for each flower and all instruction. Special bonus gift: project pouch and size 24 chenille needles!

2. Radiant Reflections is absolutely b-e-a-u-tiful! One of my favorite of all time. This is a 9 month program, but you make two blocks each month. One is a 20” x 20” block and the other is a 13” x 13” block so the quilt gets to a 78” x 85” quickly. You could add a couple borders for a big queen. The blocks are constructed from basic units, just half square triangles, quarter square triangles and blocks. But here’s the best part: each month your kit is a batik 10 1/2” x 10 1/2” layer cake! The full color, complete cutting directions are based on your packet of squares and you’ll get a new layer cake and full sized pattern for two blocks every month for 9 months, all for only $30/month! The colors are exactly as shown. You will be able to pay monthly, or, if you pay for the full series up front, the BOM special will be last month free!

3. River Rock is exactly the same as Radiant Reflections, just an earthy color way. Isn’t it funny how different it looks just by changing out colors and values? The fabrics are exactly as shown in the picture.

4. CrossRoads is a unique, modern quilt designed by Heidi Pridemore with Ashley New-comb fabrics from Windham. Gorgeous color and graphic design, the quilt is built from the center out and will be in the fabrics exactly as pictured. The is a fast, inexpensive six month quilt that will finish 67” x 76”. If you sign up and prepay at the open house, you will save 10% !!

5. Marula Tree Tote is our wool embroidery project! So excited!! Yes, we will be starting Sue Spargo’s Folk Tales in February, this is a beginners “teaser” for those of you that want to learn and practice the wool embroidery stitches before you take on a big project. This is her popular wallhanging, we will do it in three classes. It can stay a wallhanging when you’re done, or turn it into a fantastic tote so you can carry it around!!

$5 Quilt Class starts today!

It’s time again for our most popular series: The $5 Quilt Class!!

This is a fun monthly class that will cost you only $5...as long as you come to class and make

your block. If not, then you pay another $5. Pretty simple, lots of fun.

This series is a nine month “row by row” quilt. Each month is a different technique,

you’ll make eight 10” x 50” horizontal rows and one 10” x 80” vertical row

for a 60” x 80” finished quilt (you can add borders if you need a large queen).

Your class is offered on Saturday mornings or Thursday evenings.

It includes a full sized pattern, instruction, and terrific door prizes.

Come to the BOM/Class open House for a sneak peak at the quilt.

The next time to see it will be at the first class (we love mystery).

Pincushion Club is just $14.99 for class and kit.

All are welcome!!

Carolyn Harris wants help getting all of those fusible

appliqué projects done!! She loves them and is constantly

starting new ones. We thought about starting a support

group, then thought we should invite everyone else that has

the same projects. Well that makes it a party. If she hosts a

Support Party it sounds a bit like

lingerie is involved. So it’s a Sewing

Party!! Each month Carolyn will have

a VERY SIMPLE new project to

show you. Then you will work on

your Halloweenies, Snow Buddies,

McKenna Ryan Quilts, etc. Bring

your machines, project totes and

notions and you can have the support

of friends while you get things

finished!! Only $10/month!!

THE SEWING PARTY ! !

Marula Tree Tote

We have been working on wool

embroidery with some of Sue Spargo’s

3D stitches for several years now. We

will be starting her “Folk Tales” quilt in

February. But many of you have asked

for a beginners class, or a quick class.

This is a great project for those long winter nights. You

can turn it into a wallhanging or a tote bag!

This fabulous little tree has just 21 leaves and 10

berries. You can embellish a little… or a lot!

We will work on this project in three classes:

Class one will cover basic wool cutting, placement and

simple wool appliqué. Class two will be drizzle stitches,

bullion knots, pistol stitches, a rosette chain, couching,

whipped woven circle and the woven picot. We will also

cover specialty threads and beads. Class three will be

tote construction (if you’re not done stitching we’ll make

a “blank tote” so you know how it goes together, then

you can keep stitching on the

tree until you are ready).

The complete series includes the

patterns, instruction, notion kit

and thread samples for only

$15/class. Kit sold separately.

As promised, Cindi is

going to teach two more

quilts using the fabulous

square-in-a-square ruler!

Many of you bought this

ruler at Cindi’s urging

and quickly realized why

it has been her favorite

for almost 20 years.

It has so many uses!

We made the Storm at

Sea quilt in June and this

month you can make

an easy

Pineapple Quilt on October 8th, or

the beautiful

Snow Geese Quilt on October 22nd.

The Snow Geese Quilt

is a simple white

background with

mixed blue birds,

but we will show you

how to modify the

quilt with color and

add a delectable

mountain section for a gorgeous

variation.

Both SnS classes are only $24 each

and include the pattern and lunch.

Carolyn Hutchinson taught

a Dresden Plate Quilt

made out of a jelly roll and

we have had constant

requests to repeat this one

more time. Here is your

last chance!!

This is a stunning quilt.

Super simple using

Carolyn’s technique and a

jelly roll. The class will be offered in two parts.

The first class will be an evening class to discuss

construction of the “blades”. Then on October 22nd

you will meet at the Event Center in Soap Lake

where there is enough room for everyone to spread

out and have their own design wall. There you will

construct the entire quilt, leaving with the whole

thing finished!! Class includes the pattern and

lunch. This class will fill up fast.

vintage treasures, home décor, linens, ornaments,

kitchen goods, chocolates and more.

We will feature our brand new 2016 Holiday patterns, kits and gift packaging,

as well as offer some premade items

for those of you that do not have time

to complete everything on your list!

The 6th Annual 12 Days of Christmas starts November 29th!!

Make sure you’re on the nice list! If you participated with Mrs. Clause for

Mother’s Day then you are on the list. If not, email Santa at [email protected]

before November 26th to get the evening emails. It will work the same this year

as in previous years except we will have to be very strict about numbers - when

we are sold out, we are out. No more rain checks. So you will have to be quick.

You’ll get an email every weekday evening at 5pm for a special kit, fabric packet, notion, or gift at a substantially reduced

price. There may be limits on items, but generally you can get one for you and one as a gift. You will just have to email

Santa back and say “Stuff my Stocking”. You may also have to indicate a color preference. There will also be some

contests, games and bonuses along the way… just for fun! This will go on for 12 weeknights. Then, on Saturday, December

17th you will come in and pay for and pick up your gift bag of goodies! If you want your package mailed to you - they will

go out December 16th via USPS first class (that’s almost as good as via reindeer and sled!).

1st Annual Bindathon: Two Days!!

I’ve said it before… Christmas Eve is not for binding. But

how is it we are all crazed and putting on binding instead

of making fudge just before the big day?!? Well we are

here to start a new tradition… the Bindathon. Big prizes

for getting it done! Here’s how it will work:

Friday, December 9th 10am - 4pm. Show up at our

Event Center in Soap Lake with your sewing machine,

notions, and all of your quilts, wallhangings, potholders,

tablerunners, and everything else that needs binding.

You will win points for making binding, sewing on

binding, sewing down binding by machine and sewing

down binding by hand. We will have a few new tips and

tricks to share throughout the day. At 4pm, the person

with the most points wins a $100 gift certificate for the

Fabric Patch!! And of course the pride and pleasure of

being DONE with binding!! Whoo Hoo!!

Saturday, December 10th 10am - 4pm. Same plan,

different day. You can do both days or just one.

Space is limited to 30 participants each day. Cost is only

$15 and pays for all snacks, food, door prizes and bonus

gifts. A barista will be on site to keep us caffeinated!

One other option: Make it a Binding Retreat. Arrive

Thursday eve to get set up. Stay Thursday, Friday and

Saturday night. Breakfast and dinner included. Massage

therapist on site in the evenings. Only $165 Space limited

Christmas Deadline Retreat only $175

December 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th!!

From Thursday afternoon to Sunday afternoon,

if you’re down to the wire (or think you’ll be)

come and get something done without interruption.

We will not have additional classes or projects,

we will just be there to help you press, cut, pin,

etc. to get your Christmas projects DONE!!

And, we will have four long arm machines set up

for your use at no additional charge.

We will load quilts for you, unpin and trim…

whatever you need to be ready to bind!

All meals and snacks provided.

You can stay in your pajama bottoms and

slippers and sew from 5am to midnight!

Space limited to 11.

Sewing Party Christmas Project!!

Carolyn Harris is going to host a beginners class on the Doodle Days Quilt. This is a magical printed

panel that does most of the work for you. It is a darling fabric line by Lynette Anderson. We just make

the base quilt which will measure 30” x 42”. Then each month you change out the month banner

( 4” x 15”) and the mini quilt (9” x 12”) to match the seasons. So cute!!

This is an appliquér’s dream… there is no appliqué!! If you’ve been enjoying Carolyn’s classes for the

past two months, this will be a welcome reward. Space limited to Sewing Party club members first,

non-participants will be placed on a waiting list. Cost: $16 December 3rd, 11am - 4pm.

Established 1999

Once you understand the block construction, you will go home and sew it together at your own pace. As soon as you’re ready for your next lesson, come in (no need to phone ahead) and bring your finished block and fabric with you. We will review your first block, discuss your technique, then move on to block #2. This will continue until your sampler is completed. Each lesson will cover a different technique, and build on your new found knowledge. As the blocks get progressively more complicated you will want to take advantage of your skills and the special coupons and gifts you will receive along the way. The quilt can be completed in 2 weeks, or 2 years. No pressure, no stress, no scheduling conflicts.

Progressive Sampler

This class is for those beginning quilters that have taken the basics and now they want to know how to make multiple blocks with different techniques. The cost is only $36 for 12 classes (that’s $3/class for one on one instruction!). The way it works is you sign up for the class, and purchase your five one yard cuts of complimentary fabrics (you can add fabric as you go along if you want to) and two yards of background. When you pay for your class you will get a punch card with the 12 classes on it. As soon as you have your card and your fabric, you are ready for your first lesson! You simply come in and present your card to any of the employees at The Fabric Patch and we will grab our “lesson bag” for your first class. Your class will include one on one instruction and a printed pattern.
