Our President’s MessageBy Michael Gober

May’s program was unique from Jared Bradley, AIA, NCARB, owner of The BradleyProjects. The Bradley Development Group as a general contractor is now known as Certified Construction Services. They design, build and develop their own projects with partners and investors, but also design and build for clients who appreciate thoughtful and progressive design. Jared spoke on Vertically Integrated Development. This process differs from conventional development processes in that the Developer is partnered with the Architect who is partnered with the General Contractor. This team of three separate business entities provides more direct communication throughout the design phase of the project.

Monday June 24th was our annual Golf Tournament at Nashville Golf and Athletic Club. Justin Huff with Lightwave Solar Electric was our Chair and can be reached at [email protected] .

Thursday June 27th was our annual Awards Ceremony at Mere Bulles which included great food, camaraderie and recognition.

50 + years ago this age old product called linoleum - a material consisting of a canvas backing thickly coated with a preparation of linseed oil and powdered cork, used especially as a floor covering has evolved into the fastest growing market of both residential and commercial flooring as a luxury vinyl product . No more is it your Mother’s kitchen floor anymore. It is used in health care, hospitality, institutions almost anywhere you will find this product that mimics real hardwood and stone. Rebirthed in the Pacific Asian Rim ten years ago it is taking over the flooring industry and the technology is coming back to the United States.

The resilient product types can be grouped into three categories.

~ SET IT : Is a direct glue installation that is perfect for virtually all performance applications. A clean, dry, smooth subfloor is a must. This category consists of two different constructions.

1. A layered polyvinyl chloride product designed in tile or plank - LVT2. A solid polymer core design utilizing crushed stone in tile or plank.

~ LAY IT : Installs directly over most sub-floors & existing hard surface floors.Adhesive is optional with minimal floor prep for fast installation and immediate occupancy. Applications include student, mixed use and Military housing, as well as office or retail where rolling loads do not exist. It has a simple repair and replacement process.

~ LOCK IT : Can be manufactured as a luxury vinyl tile OR a wood polymer construction. It features a locking tongue & groove, adhesive free installation, floating over most sub-floors and existing hard surface floors minimizing floor prep while enabling fast installation for immediate occupancy. Where heavy rolling loads do not exist, it is perfect for corporate office, retail and housing. Insulation impact class sound reduction can be enhanced with optional underlayment.

Construction of these three unique product types are similar.

It starts with a backing, foundation layer. An inner core of either PVC, stone or wood polymer.Paper thin image picture.Plastic wear layer.Performance finish utilizing urethane, crushed stone, aluminum

oxide.
